Not from what I've seen. All of the people I have encountered have been helpful and friendly. Game takes a lot of patience, which weeds out alot of the asshats who often ruin the gaming experience (some skills take days, weeks, or even months to train). |

I may try it out :D Pirating FTW.
Also, since pirating is an accepted form of work, maybe I will become a bodyguard....
Ooh, the posibilities. |

Pirating may be fun but just like in real life, people don't take kindly to having their cargo stolen. So you will have a bounty put on you. Plus there are corps whose sole purpose is to eliminate pirates. |

Holy s**t. I just got in the game and finished the tutorial. I am overwhelmed.
So much crap to do. Skill choices, missions, corporations, etc... My brain is about to explode
Got a couple questions:
is it possible to do anything interesting early on? For instance, I am raking in quite a bit of money, and am planning to buy my ass a shiney new ship. Is it possible to do anything other than missions with it? For instance, is there any way I can kill myself some other players for stuff? As far as I know, the early mining zones are all in high security areas, which means they kill me.
Also...if you attack someone, what stops them from just warping away?
How do you optain bluepints?
How do you find a decent corporation to join? |

:-D
1. You need to find some low security space that you can belt pirate in. You can attack people mining and steal their cargo or equipment when they drop it. Don't attack people by the gates or stations in low security space though since they still have guns there that will tear you to shreads...unless you sit there in a battleship and tank the guns whilst killing people of course like me :-D .
2. You can train for warp scramblers and warp disruptors which stop people warping away.
3. You can buy Blueprint Originals (BPOs - unlimited run blueprints) from the market however these are often quite expensive. Alternatively you could buy Blueprint Copies off escrow for cheaper. All BPCs and BPOs require minerals to build. If you have a BPO you can make BPCs from it to sell to people.
4. EVE has litterally thousands of corporations. Best thing to do is to say in local you're looking for a corporation that does whatever you enjoy doing. Or if you contact me in game ('Flash Landsraad' or 'Adrian Kerensky' depending on which character I'm using - I have 2 accounts) I can put you in touch with some of my old corporations that I spent a lot of time with. |

I'm inspired to be a pirate. I just heard some stories on the EVE forums...
1) 8 newbies in crappy frigates taking on a scorpion. I don't know what that is, really, but I can guess from the responses that it's a pretty kick-ass vehicle.
2) I heard another story of a 15-day old player successfully kicking the s**t out of a 2 year old player.
:-D
I just bought myself a 240,000 frigate (forget the name). I have to wait for a couple more hours before I can get the skill to use it, but I plan to use that to go hunting...
While I wait, I bought a shuttle to do courier missions.
How long does it take to get the skills for a warp scrambler? And how much are they? |

1. A ScorpionScorpion is a Caldari Battleship. Unlike other MMOs - in EVE the biggest ships don't own everything smaller than them as you read. Smaller ships can travel in close so that battleships can't hit them and groups of people in frigates can take down BSs. It's all good fun and encourages a lot of teamwork. Even the largest combat ships in game (Dreadnoughts) are useless without a group of people because firstly they can't use stargates and need someone to generate a 'wormhole' kind of thing called a Cynosural Field so they can jump into a system using their jump drives, and secondly without a serious fleet as an escourt they can be killed by 4 or 5 battleships very easily.
2. That's the good thing with EVE. You can take on people who have been playing far longer than you and still win, because EVE is more about player skill rather than character skill. If you know how the game mechanics work - theoretically there is no ship you can't take down with any other ship.
If it's Amarr it's probably a Punisher. I still fly them for laughs from time to time - they're really good ships.
Shuttles probably aren't the best thing to do courier missions in since they only have a 10m3 cargo hold. You can carry more in your starting ship, though it is slower.
It's really fast to train to use warp scramblers (stop them warping away) and webbifiers (slow people's speed down). You may already have the skills necessary from your starting out skills. You can find all skills, modules, ships, implants, etc... in EVE here, and the skills required to use a warp scrambler and warp disruptor here and here.
Enjoy - and if any of you need any help don't hesitate to convo me in game. |
