I am a foreign policy and cultural liberal, and a fiscal conservative. Personally I can't wait until Roe vs. Wade is overturned. Abortion and gun control create more one issue voters than anything else. Many people that would vote Democratic don't because of one of those two issues. However since abortion is legal many pro-choice Republicans vote for other reasons since abortion is currently legal.
If abortion is illegal the Democratic Party will start receiving votes from some of the traditionally roman-catholic anti-abortion crowd since abortion is illegal. At the same time the Republican Party will start loosing votes from the affluent female pro-choice crowd.
With the country divided as evenly as it is, several blue states will be created and we can fix the mess that Jr. made.
Simply put if abortion was illegal Jr. would have lost either of the last two elections without a doubt. |

Roe Vs Wade is more about the jurisdiction of the federal government to force legalized abortion in all states, so overturning Roe vs. Wade will still leave the abortion debate raging on a state-by-state basis.
It would divide the country more, because anti-abortionists and pro-abortionists would end up living in separate states.
But maybe thats a good thing. |

Jesman33: First off, how would the Republican Party start losing votes from the female pro-choice crowd? The pro-choice crowd is voting Democrat. Secondly, if RvW gets overturned, it will become a state issue as johnson mentioned.
While I do think that if RvW gets overturned, it can do nothing but help the Democratic Party, I still don't see it making a very large movement. |

| I'd like to know how you can think you could seperate conservative fiscal policy from liberal foreign policy. Since the US is currently engaged in the biggest example of conservative fiscal policy applied through foreign politics. |

Republicans would not loose pro-life votes if abortion were illegal. How are they supposed to make sure it stays illegal if they start voting for pro-choice Democrats? |

No offense, but that has to be one of the weaker arguments I have heard against abortion. Instead of the stand being taken on religious, moral, or ethical principles it is being taken on a stance of "hurt the horrible Republicans."
If one's whole goal in supporting a political movement is to hurt the party with the opposing viewpoint, I would seriously recommend that a thorough examination of one's political ideologies and principles is in order. |

Only if you choose to be that way. |
