| I'm looking at getting a new processor because I've come to the conclusion that mine s*cks. Unfortunatly, I don't know all of it's stats. Is there anyway I could find out everything about I need to know to get another one without taking apart my computer? |

AMD 64, that is the only processor to get.

Dual Core is overkill and a waste of money. There is no difference in performance between the two as no software currently unlocks the potential of the 2nd CPU. |

My buddy has a dual core 64 w/ Fedora. He'll encode video with ffmpeg on one core and then run everything else on the other core...no slowdown :-D |

| The AMD 3800+ I'm running was good value for money and has rated pretty well in benchmark tests I've seen. I got no complaints at the moment anyway, and it competes well with more expensive AMD single processor chips, even though it is running a fairly lazy 2.4 gigHz. |

I didn't say it operated poorly. I said it was overkill. It's set to run at 2.4Ghz.... :? |

2.4 would be a good oc for that chip, i'd tone it down to 2.2...just ot be safe. |

| oneofthem is right, it's actually on 2 per core but I had a moment of doubt and checked a stock spec sheet on the web instead of looking at my settings. The stock sheet listed 2.4 gHz Either way its ticking fine and even if there is an element of overkill, it was still fairly cheap and has got some access to future 2 core management. Mostly it was cheap :) |

Unless you want to do the "while I'm doing this upgrade I might as well do this too" you first need to check and see what your motherboard socket is and how fast a processor it can take. |

Open up your computer case, then put THIS inside
It will go faster instantly, replace hamster every 4 days |

Crap. No way to avoid taking it apart? Problem is, this is a gigabyte board, but was made for Micron. Neither support it anymore, so I have no manual.
Well, time to start saving. |

No, you don't use steroids on processing hamsters, you must overclock the hamster. |

| Yes... by hooking its brain up to a neurotransmitting device we will be able to make the hamster faster, stronger, better than before and your computer will be the fastest evar |

Let's up the voltage and see if we can acheive higher clock speeds  |

That's obviously a ridiculous idea, c'mon. Put a hampster into your comptuer to make it go faster.
C'mon, think of it. Who wants to open their case every four days to replace their hampster. It's too inconveniant. You have to find a way to make him last longer, or find a longer lasting small animal.
4 days, c'mon. :-| |
