| How do you get rid of desktop icons (not the programs, just the shortcuts on the desktop). I just want only 5 or 6 things on my desktop. Again, I don't want to get rid of the entire program, just the desktop shortcut. |

Control Panel > Display > Desktop tab > customize desktop button > choose which desktop icons you want and press OK |

| Right click on the shortcut and choose "delete". |
