|
|
For a strong nation to defend against the impending Imperialist American invasion, we need a distributed source of power, no centralized power plants that can be bombed and cause the entire nation to black out. It is also way cooler.
So how about we put a tiny nuclear reactor into every home, or if that is too impractical, every other home, or every apartment building, if we can make them about the size of a mini-refigerator then a nuclear reactor for every home is just way cool. It will supply heat and power for our wonderful nation, any waste can be harmlessly vented into the atmosphere, with all the other naturally produced nuclear waste.

And once the uranium is spent, they must be recycled, perhaps after returning the spent uranium, a rebate is awarded to the buyer of the uranium, rewarding them for recycling it and not turning it into a dirty bomb. With this spent uranium we can run it through larger, state-ran special nuclear reactors, which provide main grid power. |

Yeah... then I think we should provide cheap lowcost uranium enrichers so we can go to a Mutually Assured Destruction status on an individual basis.
Put me down for your non-option HELL NO. |

I dunno...it kind of makes sense. I think in many ways nuclear power has gotten an unnecessarily bad rap over the last few decades. Nuclear plants aren't nearly as dangerous as many people think they are, and disposing of the waste will be much less of a problem if we develop cheap surface-to-orbit transportation (something which looks quite plausible from what I can see).
Also, decentralized power is an idea that's getting alot more interest these days. Such power sources will be necessary to power small off-earth bases and vehicles. They also offer a chance of providing more green electricity, in the case of rooftop solar panels and wind-turbines that can provide a significant portion of a household's power consumption. |
