No offence to them but censored for secrecy all the way.

Well we haven't even decided to have a Great debate and I'm fairly sure the decision should be discussed and made (for our candidate) inside the LP HQ.

What exactly are these and when do they happen etc. I've seen lots of references but I couldn't find anything when I did a forum search...they sound cool.

My guess would be some sort of fomalised debtating competition etc., one on one or something...am I close?

Why are these debates always between American parties and on topics decided by the judges?

I would like to see

Debates on more issues, for example a formal debate about social security vs. pure capitalism, or a formal debate about the 1948 Israeli-Arab war, or other stuff.
A representative could be elected from among those with the same stance via a vote... an open poll so we could verify that only those with the same stance vote :)
Another way could be to make more HQs, or - optimally - to simply be able to apply labels to people that will allow them to vote for their representative, for instance I would be labeled "Pro-Israeli" and "Atheist" and would be able to vote and be elected for a representative at any such debate...

Debates on issues that are pre-decided by the debating sides, rather than by the judges.

And finally, why is the great debates forum removed? Leave it there, just lock it when no debate is taking place. The articles there are usually interesting reading and should be displayed publicly.

Come on guys, PCF is growing... time for a renovation!

The topics are suggested by and voted on by the parties. If you want a certain topic then you must get your party forum to suggest it.The debaters as well are voted on by the party forums not the staff.

It's possible to do as you suggest with the forum itself and we'll take it under advisement in the future.
