|
|
I was curious as to what the opinons of the various Muslim members of the forum have of the modern theory of Evolution.
For example, do you believe that human beings evolved from apes?
Which writings of Islam describe the Prophet's(PBUH) teachings on the Creation?
And what are your personal opinions of human origin? Do they differ at all from the "mainstream" opinions of Islam?
Thanks, just curious. :-D |

I am happy to answer your question...
we believe that humans were made from clay......we are kind of sensitive about the evolution of humans from apes....it is not rational, if you examne the evolution of other species they stayed the same even if they were major changes, like the finches...finches are still finches even if they don't look like each other
about humans, we believe that when first adam was created, god made him then put a soul in his body....the first thing adam did was to sneeze...the soul started from the head till it reached the toes, we also believe that eve was made from adam..its like she is a piece of adam.....
as for the teachings on creation...i need to check my resources, but what i said is from a very famous "sheikh" in our world who says these kind of stories
he is "TARIK AL-SWAIDAN, P.h.D"

Good post, Muslima.
Here's an awesome link that explains more of Islam's view on this topic as well.

Yes, I agree, it is quite irrational. And what you say about Adam and Eve is very much the same as what I believe.
I will check out some of Dr. TARIK AL-SWAIDAN, P.h.D writings, if I can find them. That sounds very interesting.
Also, thanks for the nice link, Moath, that is exactly the info I am looking for. I shall enjoy reading that.
Oh, yeah. What exactly is a sheikh? Is he a religious leader or a political leader? Or possibly a combination of both? |

A sheikh is usually a political or religious leader, but imams are sometimes given the label sheikh. Imams are clerics.
And your welcome. :-D |
