Freedom of speech is not such a valid excuse when it comes to cartoons about Jesus, is it?

by the way, I just found out a few funny things about your sacred freedom of speech and belief
you know that you could sent to prison for three years in Germany if you raise your hand and used the nazi way of greeting
and also in Italy, a soccer player was fined and punished because he raised his hand to greet the fans in a fascist way
so much for your freedom of speech and belief
so pathetic

That was my f***ing point all along. The hypocrisy is so festeringly obvious that I'm surprised at the number of people who actually overlooked this bigotry. Personally, I'm not a Nazi/Fascist supporter, but this is just ridiculous. |

You've got to be kidding. What's pathetic is the extremist Muslim response. In America, Jesus has been lampooned more times than I can count. It doesn't bother me. I don't become so enraged I incite violence, murder, or scream "Death to so-and-so." The global society seems to have taken a giant step backwards. |

snow, that's why the Muslims around the world are outraged:
-the hypocrisy of the West is very obvious from where we're standing
-this is probablty the first time that such a desecration becomes publicized to a global scale
I agree with you that this response is disgusting, but now this response is dying off as an end to this whole fiasco is in sight. |

first of all... nobody said that christians are prohibited from showing their anger if someone makes fun of their god? and I think christians know that.. if you know what happened to that show " the Book of Daniel"...
you being too tolerant when someone insults Jesus doesnt mean that I have to be like you
Jesus being lampooned and you people are not angry about it doesnt mean we should be like you...
do you think we muslims laugh when we see someone making fun of Jesus? no we don't
and if one muslim makes fun of Jesus or Moses,, I will be the first one asking the government to execute him... those men should not be material for a cartoon or a comedy act
i'm not saying that that danish cartoonist should be executed... the rules are different here since he is not a muslim... but he should apologize and never make fun of Islam again
there will be much more of those kind of steps soon.. and what you might call backwards..others call forwards
what about that soccer player punished because of his raised-arm salute, does that settle just fine with you? |

borther , God said to those who made mockery of him and his verses and his prophets " dont apologize you have become infidels after you were of the the believers"
I don't remember in what surah the verse I'm talking about is... but i'll look for it and tell you
for muslims, if you mock god , his prophets, his books... thats like apostasy and could be worse... and scholar have gone in two ways on this case
some of them say he who mocks them must be executed whether he repents or not
others say if he repents then must be forgiven...if he doesnt then he should be executed...
thats only applies if he was a muslim,
I could be mistaken though |

Let's not start a flame-war. It just comes to show that our prophets and messengers are too important to us to see them being desecrated. |

loool ..
is that gonna be your answer to my last question?
I don't know what exactly is bothering you in that comment... is it me asking for capital punishment? or me telling you that I would be angry if a muslim mock Moses or Jesus?
it is a very sad and sorrowful time when the saviors of humanity are used as comedy material...i'm not even proud to say that I live in it |

Executing someone who makes fun of a religious figure is the most backwards, ridiculous thing I have ever heard. |

It is, and I agree with you. That's why I said what I said above.

You could be mistaken. I know that Apostasy is punishable by death, but this punishment isn't even being practiced outside Saudi Arabia, is it? I mean, I know that in Lebanon and Egypt, people have actually converted to Christianity without getting a word from a mufti. Get me the verse. I would like to analyze this as well. |

Remember also that desecration of religious figures is not a new thing outside the Muslim world. |

Religious figures are sacred to me as well, just not to the point where I become a barbarian who demands execution and causes mayhem. With people like you, this world cannot progress. |

this barbairnism you speak of is the teachings of our religion I'm not sure if you are taught to bite on your lips when someone mocks those dearest to you... but I was not
people like you are the reason why those who you should be calling barbarians are insulting every religious figure in your religion and mine...
why stop making fun of them if nobody cares? |

Spare me with the "teachings of our religion," because there is rarely a set teaching for a religion. If this were not the case, Osama Bin Laden wouldn't be around justifying his actions through Islam.
When someone mocks another that is dear to me, I don't call for their execution. I don't live in the stone age, like you apparently do. That is just ridiculous and pathetic.
People who mock what is sacred to others are not barbarians, they just aren't very respectful. A barbarian is you, someone who thinks mocking should lead to execution.
People will stop making fun of others when foolish people stop getting such a rise out of the mocking. You don't understand human psychology, do you? If someone mocks Mohammed every single day, and nobody pays them any attention, they will eventually stop. When they mock him once, and there is a ridiculous outrage, they will continue to do it because human beings crave ATTENTION. You are simply egging them on, and it's actually quite comical, in a depressing sort of way. |
