Normally, I don't watch shows like this, but I tend to get very upset and admittedly, have a weak constitution when it comes to seeing animals in distress. However, I watched this show for the first time the other night - and some of the things I've seen - will forever be burnt into my memory.

All kinds of pets who were neglected and abused, being taken into custody - in order to save their lives. And some of their so-called owners who I would personally like to punch their lights out, for their lack of acknowledgement over what they've done to these animals.

One story that really got me - was about a couple of horses that were rescued. One of them was 300lbs underweight. They had estimated that the horses hadn't eaten in at least 6 months to be that decimated. There in the stalls where these horses were kept, the wooden planks of their stalls had be chewed away, because they were so hungry, they were trying to eat the wood. There was a stall that the horses could not get to, but was full of hay. :( One of the horses collapsed and died shortly after being 'rescued'. I swear to God... I would have a hard time doing that job and not killing the people responsible for such neglect and abuse.

The thing that slays me, is the people responsible deny having starved and abused such animals. I cannot describe how shocked I was at the condition of these horses.... and it made so incredibly angry and so sad at the same time.

I've watched shows similiar to this in the past - but I am tender hearted in the way that things like this give me nightmares. I know it happens, I've seen it before - but..... it's hard for me to explain. I don't want anyone to think that I live in denial... it's just very hard for me to watch this sort of thing and not want to hunt someone down and treat them the way they've treated these animals.

Now you know how I feel almost everyday of my life GND. I don't know how you feel about Animal Rights but hopfully that show did open your eyes a little.

"Look deep into the eyes of any animal, and then for a moment, trade places, their life becomes as precious as yours and you become as vulnerable as them. Now smile if you believe all animals deserve our respect and our protection, for in a way, they are us, and we are them." -Philip Ochoa

If the animals came up and attacked the owners, cruel as that may seem, I wouldn't blame the animals at all, in fact I'd reward the animals. Cruelty like that is absolutely ridiculous and it pisses me off that people can do this s**t and get away with it, too.

If you read my book series, you'd probably feel better for the animals.

I am against animal cruelity, so I definatly think the state should take action in the extreme caes like what you see on Animal Planet.

But, I do not think they need to bust people for minor offences then taking the animals away. Since they kill the "excess" animals any way.

That begs the question, what is better; a life of abuse or death?

I really can't imagine which.

I actually like Animal Planet. It's quite informative and I'd choose it over any music channel/entertainment gossip/cartoon show/whatever... any day.

I couldn't do that job for more than 5 minutes because I would surely beat the owners to death

I probably would've snapped after the first minutes, and I'd probably leave the owners somewhere in the wilderness with wild animals to starve for 6.5 months and see how they'd like that kind of treatment. Bet they'd think twice before doing that s**t again.

animal curelty is one of those things i will enver fathom, but i guess some people are just mentally challenged. same goes for rapists, child molesters, murderers etc. some people are just disturbed and lack empathy.

lol I HATE Animal Planet!!! hehe.

But yeah, there are some really sick people out there. That being said, I have been accused of neglecting my dog because I keep it at a healthy weight (believe me, it is the weight recommended by the vet), and this was by a cop.... I think people are perhaps slightly over-touchy on this subject? It is hard not to be when you see a show like Animal Cops though, I will say that.
