Protests in the UK suggesting violence and terrorism against European nations! I'm stuggling to have sympathy for these idiots! Holding one of those placards ("Europe you will pay, you're 3/11 is on the way" and "Europe you will pay, the Bin Ladin way") should have been arrested and if not a British national - removed from the country. Plain and simple.
We should not be entering in to this idea of showing support for Denmark by publishing the pictures, but we should not allow incitement to violence against our neighbours. |

I agree. This senseless violence must stop. I'd rather have them stick to protesting peacefully and calmly instead of this mania.
I'd rather stick to boycotting.
So for now, bye bye, Havarti Cheese and Danone Yogurt. How I always loved thee so... |

It's crazy. I agree. These people should be silenced. But I don't think that the Muslim fanatics have that much power in killing many people. |

Sorry for the repetative posts but I simply cannot believe that these people were not arrested and immediately deported to the hell hole they came from. |

Really!!! Just because of a couple of cartoons. OK then, I have a right to say this. All those sporting those placards and expressing their hate should be deported, those that don't want to go should be shot! That's the hardline that is needed to defeat this extremism!! |

| The reaction I find most frightening is not the reaction of *some* Muslims to this cartoon - we all know the problems there - but rather the deadly silence of the left on the issue. The day when the same mainstream politicans and journalists who condemn anyone for saying people who display signs saying "You'll see the real Holocaust soon" and "Freedom go to hell" should be arrested also condemn newspapers that dares republish the cartoons for not showing proper "respect for Islam". |

Freedom of speech gose both ways, the printing of the cartoon was an **** thing to do, but justifed. The writing of these pissed off signs whilse also insensitive and **** is also justifed.
When people start damaging private property and hurting or even killing people, thats when theve crossed the line, and they should expect justice to be both fast and firm. Before that they are within there rights, thats what this entire debate is about.
The double standards exibited by so many people (not nessiarly you) are making this entire problem easily the biggest f**k up of the 21st centuary so far.
If only libertarians where in charge  |

Freedom of speech doesn't extend to encouraging people to kill other people- its the reason that hook handed tosser is in prison now. That is not doubled standards. The cartoons did nothing more than mock religion. Not even close to being the same thing. |

Ok, so the next time you go to a crowd of Manchester Utd. soccer fans and shout at the top of your lungs "MANCHESTER S*CKS!!!", don't be surprised when they come running after you with blackjacks and start beating you to a pulp. |

I wouldn't do that, but then I wouldn't like to see it proscribed in law either. Then if someone is dumb enough to do it, they needen't face prosecution once they get out of hospital either..... |

If we had complete freedom to say exactly what we wanted, the world would be in chaos! We don't walk around saying out loud "oh she's really fat", "he's really ugly" or "I hate <insert colour> people". Why don't we? Because it's neither nice nor acceptable to walk around insulting people...
So Moath is quite correct; Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from responsibility. |

Yes, but would you want to see calling people fat a criminal offence? |
