i'm doing a project for my AP Euro History Class, in which the students have to create a newspaper (for the exams), and i've been assigned hte political pages of the 19th century. I found a political cartoon i want to use on one of my pages, and i just KNO it's perfect, but i can't really explain it. i wuz wondering if any one could explain to me why it's funny. sounds stupid, but i could REALLY use the help.
I thought this cartoon would be perfect for my karl marx/marxism article, but i can't explain why, and my teacher won't let me use it w/o an explaination... i could really use the help. |

It doesent really.
The ashtray is Germany, each of those cigarette's and associated name represent the fact that every one of those names have had their turn, the ashes, to put nicely, is the cr*p left behind after each of them have had their smoke (time in power) |

Agreed, their all right wing/monarchical/militaristic figures from the 20th century. Not 19th century. And they dont really have a lot to do with Karl Marx. Only in a rather vague way. I wouldnt say it was funny either. More sad and despairing. |

Not really, becuase theres Kohl, Shroeder etc. None of them very right wing/monarchical/militaristic. |
