There needs to be a way to tell if you're on someones ignore list. It's a faulty system, and a massive waste of (arguably already wasted internet time) to be talking to someone who can't see what you've written.

| I mentioned this awhile back as well. I definately think it's something that should be looked into. |

This site is evolving at a rapid pace, and these are a few things that will aid in that process. Glad to see you mentioned it also. |

The vast majority of the time, when another poster tells you that you are on their Ignore List, they are lying to you.
The problem is, having some way of verifying this would only cause more disruption as people called them on it.
Personally, I'm not worried about it; it's a public forum, so if I'm talking to a wall, eventually someone else will come along and take the wall's side of things. |

The whole idea of an ignore function on a debate forum exists solely for flamers, therefore, idealy, you shouldn't be on anybody's list. That said, it's also abused so people can ignore you (usually people not worth debating with). So...
A.) Don't troll
B.) If you directly challenge someone, and they don't respond, just drop it.
My two cents. |

I don't follow your logic. How're the ignorees going to call them on it if they're being ignored? There is simply zero reason not to be aware of who is ignoring you. |

I still agree with you on this. :)
I personally don't care if someone is ignoring me (I'm sure there are lots that are), but it would be nice to know, just in case you respond to someone that can't read what you've said and of course, won't reply.
We get a notification when someone adds us to their "buddy list" - I think it would be beneficial to have the same feature for the "ignore user" list as well.
Just my two cents.. again. ;) |

I'm ignoring you!
Seriously though I don't think it matters. I encourage people that don't like me to ignore me. Saves me problems. |

It would be mayhem I tell you mayhem. |

1) Poster A expresses disgust at Poster B's opinion and states they are Ignoring them.
2) Poster B checks to see if Poster A is, indeed, Ignoring him, and discovers that he is not.
3) Poster B publically posts that Poster A is, in fact, not Ignoring him, and taunts him about it.
I might also point out that there is zero reason to be aware of who is Ignoring you-- since, unless you are attempting to send them PMs, your posts will be seen and responded to publically by other posters. |

Poster "B" gets a warning, and then a suspension if he persists. Blatant Flaming is blatant flaming, and there are no grey areas. They already do this. I've seen posters use the ignore system as a threat, and then not use it. Then I've seen other's say: "I guess you couldn't put me ignore and you want to hear what I have to say". It's petty baby sh!t, and it doesn't matter that it's undisclosed as it happens on a daily basis. What's the worst that could happen in weeks time? Trial and error. I thought you were for responsibility of the citizenry.

There is a good reason. I don't like wasting anymore time than I already am. I like to know if I'm talking to a wall or not. |

Yeah, that would work real well (like a lead balloon) if they couldn't interact with the posters. :-| |
