OK so my Desktop PC is acting up. Its stalling at start-up at verify DMI pool data. It always starts cleanly after a re-boot but not at initial start up. I think it may be SD RAM problem but not sure. The video and keyboard/mouse are usually not active at the stall point. Trying to decide whether to get a new mainboard or not. It's like one of those axes with two new handles and two new heads. Any suggestions ?

If you've had the PC for a while make sure you get the right video card slot.

 I've got an old G force Ti video card and creative sound card, the rest are fairly recent. No more SD RAM to worry about with a new card thank god. the last replacement stung.

I'll do some pricing tomorrow. i get all my gear from these Chinese guys who are on to it and have never steered me wrong yet. Hopefully there won't be any major issues. Oh yeah, the hard drive is calling it quits as well... :-|

I needed a good reason to go to work next week :)

they are right out there. I suppose I could do the right thing and do as you say. There is a part of me that just wants a shiny new AMD board though :shifty: I'm also a little tense when it comes to working on a main board, even though I have reasonable soldering gear.

Ahh what the hell, it might be fun...

I just happen to have a large collection of faulty motherboards for their replacement parts handy, and i'm a freak, so i do those sorts of things.
