What is peace and how can we obtain it? Why is there war and how can we stop it? what is preventing us from being peaceful on a worldwide scale? do people have to die for their country and/or religion? we should have people LIVE for their countries and/or religion. should we just stand back and pray +p for peace or actually get up and do something?

As long as there are men there will be wars. They're inevitable bickerings with those with power and so long as other countries think that others dont have a right to exist then there will be wars.

They should be able to settle their differences and achieve great goals by working as a team.

WAR SHOWS NOT WHOSE RIGHT, BUT WHO IS LEFT.

Can anyone see that but me? Am I the only person in this world who is capable of getting along with others for at least a short while to make compromises and live peacefully?

Your theory is utopian. Everyone agrees that war is terrible but sometimes it is necessary for change.

I don't see war as necessary, More as a game to prove power and supremisy over your oponent. and your saying we need war for peace? So far, war has just divided us more

Is peace just the aftermath of the last of all wars?

So we shall force the decision of peace upon the people we have taken the lives of their sons, daughters, moms, dads, brothers, sisters and neighbors?

Of course war asserts supremacy over your opponent. Dont get me wrong I abhor war but to say that it is never neccesary is ridiculous. What about the revolutionaries who rise up against oppressive regimes who squash their freedoms. War accomplishes many things it secures nations interests and changes the political affiliation of the region.

what do you suppose our generation is. It is a group of these afflicted people.

Tell me how peace is not utopian.

they could have tried harder to use diplomacy and compromise instead of fighting.

No. Infinity is the aftermath of the last of all wars. And no humans will be around to experience peace.

Only when you can get close enough to jam in their eye!

I agree with some of the other posts, as long as there are people, there will always be wars. Unless something apocalyptic happens like in Star Trek, I doubt there would ever be the true type of peace you describe. Or if everyone forgot religion, greed, pleasure and hatred at the exact same time.

First of all, peace among two men will only come from within those two men. Peace among all men will only come from within all men. Call it the epitomy of optimistic thought, but eventually all men will agree that peace is the only way to survival in eachother's presence. Before we can achieve peace though, everyone must find it within themself to even agree that peace can be a way of life.
Saying that as long as there is man, there will be fighting already seals our generation's peace-less fate. We only say this because it is all we've ever known, all we ever choose to remember. We wind up turning one mistake into another. Men will have to unlearn all lessons learned on competition, wealth, jealously, etc... in order to live in peace: a task none of us will quite possibly ever come to perform.

War is too profitable for peace.
Peace would bankrupt Halliburton, Carlyle Group, Bechtel, and every other defense contractor uncannily close to the Bush administration.

I would say that the impulse to get up and do something is what starts all wars in the first place.

When we do that we seem to become just what we were against in the first place.

Men make wars, women and babies pay the price for them.

strictly speaking that's not that farfetched of a statement. if there are no women, everyone dies without kiddies.
