Oh please, most countries already require you to carry ID, what's the big deal!! We already have ID where the government knows where we are!! So and ID card will not make any difference to that!! |

Moscow Matt: it's not the ID card itself, its the cost.
200-300 pounds of your money, when you already have a thing called a PASSPORT.
Also, unforgable my arse. If you put everyones details on one system, all criminals and fraudsters need to do is 'suppliment' some civil service workers earnings and pow!, they've got the information. To do with as they wish...
Its a money making scheme, nothing more. |

So you think you need a card to prove who you are? Those ID cards we already have are voluntary there is a very big difference between them and forcing people to have a card. |

Here's my take on ID cards if they introduced.
The system will be hideously expensive and cost more to run than the fraud and crime they will supposedly prevent.
There won't be a excuse left in the cupboard for their introduction, Terrorism, immigration, health care, credit card fraud, ID theft, benefit fraud, Violent crime, car crime will all be reduced no make that 'eradicated' etc etc etc In fact it will not surprise me one bit if the "Think of the children" or "Future genrations will thank us" line isn't trotted out at sometime as well.
It will be mandatory to carry one at all times within a generation.
I won't be voting Labour again after 16 years.
I will also be leaving the country at the earliest oppurtunity as I have no wish to live in the surveillance capital of the world.
IMO This is Labour's poll tax, once people start to realise the implications and the cost, the Labour party will be out of government for a long time. My only hope is that the opposition parties grow a spine and the House of Lords depthcharge it. |

Nor do I. I'll be leaving as soon as I can. |
