| Why does some suicide bombers belive that they will get 72 (or is it 70) virgins ? What does the Koran say about this subject ? |

Well, the Koran is certainly clear on this issue:
God wrote: [2:195] You shall spend in the cause of GOD; do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; GOD loves the charitable.
[ 4:29] O you who believe, do not consume each others' properties illicitly - only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. GOD is Merciful towards you.
There you have it. God forbids suicide. Therefore, this "70 women" thing is a false promise given to these suicide bombers in order to motivate them to do their dirty work.
However, this "virgin" talk is not entirely false. If a Muslim warrior is slain defending his home, family, etc... he is considered a martyr, and in Heaven, women are his reward, along with wine (but not the type of wine we know today) and many other things unimaginable to the human mind. |

That whole concept seems wierd to me.
Been there...done that. I have no desire what so ever to sleep with a bunch of different women. Not really all it's cracked up to be...*shrug*
Wouldn't the best reward be real fellowship with God? |

It does, eh? I think it stems from the idea that polygamy is allowed in Islam for Muslim males who can manage. It has its benefits as well.

Well, the thing is, the word "virgin" wasn't even used by Muslims! Some Americans started using it to replace what the reward really was: women. As for sleeping with them or not... that's not a discussable issue because that "reward" alone is given by God.
