since Charles Kennedy was ousted from the Liberal Democrat leadership for a drinking problem which he had consistently denied, the tabloids have been picking off the leadership contenders.

Mark Oaten withdrew in disgrace after it was revealed that he had solicited the services of a rent boy in 2005

Simon Hughes has also been outed. after years of denying he was gay he has finally confessed to having homosexual relations in the past

who will be the next lib dem to come out of the closet or turn out to be a drunk or be humiliated in some other way?

place your bets now

No need to place a bet. They've all got skeletons in their cardboard. For every one that concedes an immoral mistake, especially from a senior politician, a majority of the Lib dem's voters are going to swing away.

Whether Sir Ming has the ability to retrieve the party's fragments or not , it's too late. Their target for the next election is to procure and refrain losing their current voters and endorsers, let alone trying to gain more votes. That plays nicely into Cameron's hands.

I remember something about their leader in the Lords also admitting to being a drunk recently...

I never thought someone could press the self destruct button more efficiently than Blair...i'm impressed.

Though then again, quite why it matters that the man is gay is beyond me...
