Well frankly i need money, badly. so i figured to my self what better way to make money than the goverment. That is im thinking about joining the T.A a logistics unit to be precise i was just wondering if anyone else here was allready in the T.A and so could answer my questions.

Namely.

Can the 27 day's requirement be adjusted to fit my travel plans?

Would it be possible for me to join a support unit (i have type 1 diabetes)?

How is the money paid?

How easy is it to quit?

The chances of my unit being activated and sent to iraq?

I doubt they'll let you in. I have a mild form of epilepsy that although controlled with medication, nevertheless disqualifies me from serving. They want people who are medically fit and capable of being sent to fight if neccessary.....

Well i've found out the Offices for th royal welsh signal corps or whatever are actually quite close to my house so ill probally pop down there in half term and find out.

You may be right though.

A very good friend of mine is in the TA and he got sent to Iraq for 6 months so chances are you would end up there. Really if you are worried about being sent to a warzone then you should not be signing up. I hate these people who sign up just so they can get a sun tan in cyprus or something, and then moan when they might actually have to fight!!

Fortunately, that statement is quite right. My father suffers from type one diabetes to which he has to take insulin two times per day. This means he cannot serve in something that requires the highest standards of fitness and must be medically clear of attributes. If you are in a warzone, and you are starting to feel dizzy because of deteriorated sugar levels, the consequence could be quite severe.

Even so, my hearing impediment which I suffer from, automatically disqualifies me from any force or jobs that requires instant cooperation. Sadly, it does suck.

Something as simple as asthma can rule you out from service.

I'd be careful what you say on these boards there are some shady characters in here who would love to kill a soldier fighting international terrorism and they are not far from mainland UK.
