Bakkah is a place mentioned in surah 3:96 of the Qur'an. It is said to be the site of the first mosque, and therefore it is by some identified with the city of Mecca. Others also identify it with the Biblical "valley of Baca" from Psalm 84.

It is claimed by some that the Bible thus makes a reference to Mecca, but this identification is very controversial.

The relevant part of the Psalm follows:

Quote:
5 Happy are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6 As they go through the valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength; the God of gods will be seen in Zion.

Baca was a place on a pilgrimage route, as was Bakkah a place known in Arabia since pre-islamic periods. Also the names are very similar, possibly deriving from the same word.

Quote: Surah 3.96: For sure the first house ever to be select for the entire humanity was Bakkah. It was from this place the humanity was destined to get the guidance and the fundamental Law which would ensure the stability and nourishment for all.

It has been argued from this that the name Bakkah might very well have led to Mecca. This would be in line with Mecca being the site of the first mosque.

If you read the Bible, in ISAIAH, Chapter 60, Glory of Zion, the following prophecies were mentioned in Bible that provide detail descriptions of the chosen city of God where His Glory will rise. The prophecies are as follows:

1. ISAIAH, Joy of the Redeemed 35:8-10

* 8 And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.
* 9 No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there,
* 10 and those the LORD has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

2. ISAIAH, The Glory of Zion, 60:11

* 11Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations— their kings led in triumphal procession.

3. ISAIAH, The Glory of Zion, 60:16-18

* 16You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
* 17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well-being your ruler.
* 18 No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.

4. ISAIAH, Zion’s New Name, 62

* 12 They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted.

All the prophecies stated above in the Bible has been fulfilled in Makkah as the chosen city of God (Allah S.W.T).

* It is well known fact non-muslim are not allowed to enter Makkah(ISAIAH, 35:8)
* Masjid Al Haram's gates were always open, day and night, every day (ISAIAH 60:11).Except for certain incidents
* Makkah has been protected from destructions and calamities that occurred in the surrounding countries. Enable pilgrims from whole world to make their pilmigrimage safe and secure every year (ISAIAH 60:18)
* In the prophecy the city "Will Be Called Sought After, The City No Longer Deserted" (ISAIAH, 62:12), whereas the term Mecca metaphorically used by westerners to mean a place that attracts many visitors or a place that is regarded as the center of an activity or interest. The similarity between the prophecy and the term Mecca used by westerners is too great to be coincidental. This proof that Makkah is the prophesied city in Isaiah, Chapter 62. It is not Zion's new name.

It is intersting for a Muslim to quote the Torah for inspiration since Muslims feel that the Torah has been corrupted, therefore for them it is no contradiction for the Quran to contradict the Torah.

Second, this is falling into the trap of the Jesus as Messiah prophecies. It says that the G-d's servant will be rejected, since Jesus was rejected he must be G-d's servant.

It is like this thing has fur it must be a rabbit, but wait if you tihnk about it, it could be a cat, a dog etc.

This just shows that even with corruption, the Torah and Psalms still have signs of a future prophet and a Universal Religion, unlike Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them) who were sent specifically to the Jewish People.

Quote: We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures. (The Holy Quran, 021.107)

Well, that is interesting, but it shows our reverence to Judaism and Christianity, either way...

I just hope that we can find peace together, even with our contradicting religious views on some aspects, whereas we find similarities more commonplace. :-D
