one aspect of the Quran's miracles is the numeric aspect, of which here in this thread I will give you all a brief introduction ...

the word "Prayer" is mentioned 5 times in Quran... and muslims are ordered to pray 5 times a day

the word "month" is mentioned 12 times in the Quran and the word "day" is mentioned 365 times

the word "sea" is mentioned 32 times and the word "land" is mentioned 13 times

now let's add 32 to 13...we will get 45

now lets divide the number of time the word "sea" is mentioned by the sum of 32 and 13 and then multiply it by 100

32 / 45 = 0.711111111 x 100 = 71.1111111 = the percentage of water on Earth

13 / 45 = 0.288888888 x 100 = 28.8888888 = the percentage of land on Earth

now could that be a coincidence?

Could an illiterate man come up with a book and fill it with all these calculations and make sure that certain words are mentioned certain times that equal the number of times of other words? oh and also provide the percentage of both water and land on Earth by using the number of times the word water/sea and land are mentioned in a very basic mathematical calculation?

just think about it...

How can an illiterate man come up with this kind of information?

it doesnt matter how many proofs and miracles you show to people if Allah did not guide their hearts to Islam

the enemies of Islam will always try to put out the light of Islam and they will save no effort in their attempt to do so

nevertheless, we , as muslims, should show those who mean Islam no harm the greatness of this religion and shed some light on these aspects of Islam that are unknown or neglected..

Coincidence? No...seems to be false information.....

I didn't look into the other claims...but I did look into the 365 day year claim (mainly because I personally believe that God's prophetic year is 360 days and saw a common misunderstanding with who ever came up with this)...But anyways......here's the problem.

Notice that Yuksel did qualify the statement, unlike the
earlier mentions of this "miracle" in the newsgroup
soc.religion.islam. He is only counting singular forms. Now,
if it were necessary to count the dual and plural forms of
the word to come up with the "miraculous" total, I am
certain that they would have been included. Nevertheless, it
would be interesting if all occurrences of the singular
"day" in the Qur'an totalled 365. Do they?

I have seen this claim before. Then, I looked up "yawm" in
the Kassis concordance, and found 475 mentions. However,
this included the dual and plural forms, and it is a piece
of work to separate them out. But now Yuksel has presented
us with a list, albeit mangled, of his claimed "singular
forms." Further, I just obtained a copy of the Flugel
concordance, which lists each unique form in superb detail.
So, I was moved to check this claim out more precisely.

I took Yuksel's list, formatted it, and imported it into a
database program. Then I used the Kassis concordance to
insert all mentions of the word, including the dual and
plural. Since Kassis, conveniently, gives the verse numbers
from Flugel's edition of the Qur'an in addition to the more
standard numbers used by Khalifa, I was able to identify
each form without the more tedious work of looking up each
verse. In the process, initially, I found several misprints
in Yuksel's list, plus tabulation errors, as well as three
occurrences missing from Flugel [and one misidentification].
I did not find any errors in Kassis. Note, however, that I
do not have a validated Arabic Qur'an in machine-readable
form. It is possible, but highly unlikely, that there are
additional mentions not listed in Kassis.

The finished database is appended below for anyone who
wishes to examine the data.

Of the 475 total occurrences of all forms of "yawm," 3 are
in the dual and 27 are in the plural, leaving 445 in the
singular.

Flugel's concordance lists 34 different forms of this word,
including variations caused by prefixes or suffixes. Here is
a list of these forms, with the total count for each form.
The number at the beginning of each row is the sequence of
the form in Flugel. Transliteration notes are at the end of
this article. Yuksel's count is given as corrected. The "<"
notes singular forms which Yuksel does not count.

Yuksel's originally published list was inaccurate, with
about six errors; it was not merely poorly formatted. But
this is water under the bridge. It is now possible to
determine how he and others came up with a count of 365
days. All the dual (3 mentions) and plural forms (27
mentions) are discarded; all forms with suffixes are
discarded, whether they be personal pronouns (10 mentions)
or 'idhin ("that") (70 mentions), except that the suffixed
alif of the accusative does not exclude the word. This
brings the total down to 365 mentions. But note that 80
clearly singular forms have been omitted.

I advise you all not to pay attention to such 'findings'. They accomplish nothing really. One of the miraculous aspects of the Qur'an is that it is applicable in every time and place. We don't really need numeric findings to give us more faith. Plus, they'll mean nothing in the overall context and they'll just make us laughing stock - sometimes - to some non-Muslims who hate Islam with passion.

Notice that Yuksel did qualify the statement, unlike the
earlier mentions of this "miracle" in the newsgroup
soc.religion.islam. He is only counting singular forms. Now,
if it were necessary to count the dual and plural forms of
the word to come up with the "miraculous" total, I am
certain that they would have been included. Nevertheless, it
would be interesting if all occurrences of the singular
"day" in the Qur'an totalled 365. Do they?

I have seen this claim before. Then, I looked up "yawm" in
the Kassis concordance, and found 475 mentions. However,
this included the dual and plural forms, and it is a piece
of work to separate them out. But now Yuksel has presented
us with a list, albeit mangled, of his claimed "singular
forms." Further, I just obtained a copy of the Flugel
concordance, which lists each unique form in superb detail.
So, I was moved to check this claim out more precisely.

I took Yuksel's list, formatted it, and imported it into a
database program. Then I used the Kassis concordance to
insert all mentions of the word, including the dual and
plural. Since Kassis, conveniently, gives the verse numbers
from Flugel's edition of the Qur'an in addition to the more
standard numbers used by Khalifa, I was able to identify
each form without the more tedious work of looking up each
verse. In the process, initially, I found several misprints
in Yuksel's list, plus tabulation errors, as well as three
occurrences missing from Flugel [and one misidentification].
I did not find any errors in Kassis. Note, however, that I
do not have a validated Arabic Qur'an in machine-readable
form. It is possible, but highly unlikely, that there are
additional mentions not listed in Kassis.

The finished database is appended below for anyone who
wishes to examine the data.

Of the 475 total occurrences of all forms of "yawm," 3 are
in the dual and 27 are in the plural, leaving 445 in the
singular.

Flugel's concordance lists 34 different forms of this word,
including variations caused by prefixes or suffixes. Here is
a list of these forms, with the total count for each form.
The number at the beginning of each row is the sequence of
the form in Flugel. Transliteration notes are at the end of
this article. Yuksel's count is given as corrected. The "<"
notes singular forms which Yuksel does not count.

Yuksel's originally published list was inaccurate, with
about six errors; it was not merely poorly formatted. But
this is water under the bridge. It is now possible to
determine how he and others came up with a count of 365
days. All the dual (3 mentions) and plural forms (27
mentions) are discarded; all forms with suffixes are
discarded, whether they be personal pronouns (10 mentions)
or 'idhin ("that") (70 mentions), except that the suffixed
alif of the accusative does not exclude the word. This
brings the total down to 365 mentions. But note that 80
clearly singular forms have been omitted.

I read this reply a week ago and I have to ask

was this reseach conducted using a computer to count how many times the word day was mentioned in the Quran? and was it designed to count the times the word "Yawm" was mentioned in its original form in Arabic? or after it has been englicized?

because it is was englicized, then it might have counted other words that had "Yawm" as a part of it..which in that case should not have been counted

the last request is if you could provide me with all the verses in which the word "yawm " was mentioned in Arabic

because that was what I have been trying to do but because of where I am right now, i'm facing many difficulties in getting in touch with a scholar or an expert in such issues...

but that aside, what about the rest of my original post?

that story is one of many distortions that can be found in the bible.. we muslims know that the original christianity and Judaism did not encourage incest.
