Fidel Castro (of all people!) once said: "The purpose of a true revolutionary is the redemption of mankind."
What do you think the main purpose of a true revolutionary is?.........and.........has one ever realized 'that' purpose? |

One could contend that the purpose or mission statement of Jesus Christ, seen as a mortal revolutionary, was the ascension of mankind. Did he realize that purpose? I think so, more or less.
One could say that the purpose of Abbie Hoffman was 'revolution for the hell of it'. Did he achieve that goal. I don't think so, as a counterculture is not a revolution. |

| Hmm from a mystic perspective, which does hold some merit, it could be to restore balance. |

I like that, as the restoration of balance is the purpose in nature, as in eco-systems.
Unfortunately, too many social-political systems are unnatural, or put another way, defy immutable dynamics found in nature.
Thanks for the input. |

I think that the purpose of a true revolutionary depends souly on who the revolutionary is. Just because he or she is a true revolutionary does not mean he or she is a trying to obtain the same result as another true revolutionary.
a broad explanation from me would be: to obtain a state of lifestyle, action or manipulation of a culture that takes place in all around the world in order to bring humanity to a single understanding of global peace |

I think a true revolution means change -- breaking an old mold for a new hopefully more evolved one. Did not the American Revolution break us away from a governing structure that needed to be broken for freedom and liberty to be born -- at least on these shores? It achieved its purpose.
I also think America is experiencing a quiet but noticeable revolution today that may have started in the 80's and seems to have gained steam as we enter the 21st Century. It's a revolution about beliefs and redefining what religion means. People are tired of dogmas.... and a God who commands you. Instead they are finding a religion (path) that empowers them. There's also a great thirst in America across all faiths for a transcendence experience with God. Newsweek recently published an interesting article on this subject entitled:
In Search of the Spiritual
Move over, politics. Americans are looking for personal,
ecstatic experiences of God, and, according to our poll, they don't much care what the neighbors are doing.[/b]

What many of us learned in Bible school, is not exactly what we're realizing today. What seems to be thriving today is spirituality more so than religion.
Perhaps one can see this as a revolution of consciousness. |

This is a nice definition for iconoclasm. |
