why is it, the most controversial topics are the ones with the most posters?
Why is it topics that offer a chance for non-partisan debate are completely ignored?
What does this express about human nature?

What does this express about human nature? Controversial topics are so popular because controversial topics are ones which create the most emotional responses. I think it is only natural that people are going to feel more strongly about those topics. Can they be discussed and debated without people becoming personal, flaming, trolling and baiting is another thing.

In a forum, since we only have typed words to express ourselves, non partisan topics are largely ignored due to the fact that we are unable to express ourselves. It is sort of a side effect of the internet. People have to say more outrageous things because they are not offering up their identity or personality as much.

00timh, good post. You too Stix. Good idea!

I have found, on here, that I lean towards the hot topics more. I dont want to miss out on the good debates. There are alot of topics here, so its hard to keep up with all of the issues, and still be able to post in the less biased threads.

Depends, though, on the person, too. Since this is more of a political board than anything, then people are more prone to take sides or force the other person to take sides. I have even had people bust on me, just because I joined the Libertarian party on here.. and they used "libertarian views" against me. I'm actually quite 50/50, politically, and dont agree wholeheartedly with Libertarian views.

I hate it when people do that kind of thing. Its almost as if all the political partys hate every other party besides their own. Its like one big pi$$ing contest..

Man. People really need to grow up and learn some tolerance. Ugh.

That is very true. It reminds me of a joke i heard about how the different genders communicate.

Women communicate by commenting on something. "That restaurant had really good food don't you think?" That will lead to a very interesting and lengthy conversation.

Men need to say something controversial. "God that movie was absolutely horrible! I can't believe it is so popular." "what are you talking about?! that movie was awsome!"

There are more men/boys on this forum than women.

Maybe the reason is very simple, blatantly biased posts attract attention. When it's that biased, someone is likely to get pissed, and when one person gets pissed, lots of other people get pissed.

Here's an idea, lets try to ignore the blatantly biased posts from now on and stick to the fairer ones. For example, we should probably stay clear of "How libs are ruinning america"
