Roman fire. Myth or fact?

Why?
You mean Greek fire and we don't know.

No, I mean Roman. The fire that burned down Rome in year 64. You HAVE heard of it, haven't you?

What makes you believe it happened, as opposed to.....Gilgamesh.

Why don't you think it is just a Roman myth?
Oh, sorry... I thought you meant Greek fire -- the top-secret incendiary weapon of the Greeks which we aren't sure existed, because their militaries kept the formula secret.

I don't know what "Roman fire," you mean. And I'm not very familiar with it, so I can't answer the question.

Rome burned during the reign of the emperor Nero.

And "exciting new discoveries," have located Atlantis. And also, it's been scientifically discovered that DNA is controlled by our conscious thoughts.

Of course, both these discoveries involve gross exaggerations, distortion or outright rejection of the scientific method, and a dismissal of relevant criticism -- but hey, that's the price you pay for fame and fortune.

I think I'll wait for the Oxford's Journal of Semitic Studies to agree with that claim rather than simply trusting bibleinterp.com. There are a plethora of websites on the internet put out by Ph. D's and non-Ph D's, making miraculously fraudulent claims, citing support from institutions they have little to no affiliation with.

That's a ridiculous statement. When it comes out it will contain this information, gleaned from over 1300 archaeological sites since 1980.

Here's some background on the guy who wrote the the book.

Quote: Emmanuel Anati is founder and Executive Director of the Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici in Capo di Ponte, Italy, and Professor Ordinarius (ret.) of Palaeo-ethnology at the University of Lecce, Italy.

Born in Florence, Italy, in 1930, Anati studied Archaeology and Historical Geography at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem (B.A., 1953; M.A., 1955). He specialized in Anthropology and Social Relations as a Fulbright scholar, at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. (A.M., 1959), and in Ethnology at the Sorbonne, Paris (Docteur es Lettres, 1960). He continued his training in the social sciences at the Universities of London and Oxford (1960-62) with a research grant from the American Philosophical Society.

His principal scientific interests are the art and religion of prehistoric and tribal cultures. He has conducted research in Western Europe, the Near East, and other countries. Anati's work in Valcamonica, where he founded and heads the Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici, has led to UNESCO's inclusion of the rock art of this alpine valley in its list of World Cultural Heritage. In Valcamonica he created a school for specialization in prehistoric art, the only existing institute of its kind in this field.

You're problem is that if you see the word Bible your head immediately starts spinning and you begin to regurgitate. Like that kid on that movie the Exorcist.

You didn't even bother to look at the evidence.

You mean, the "Israelite" people..

The Jewish people had not yet come into existence at the time of the alleged revelation at Sinai..

You're about 1,000 years too early..

Dean Radin, the guy who runs the Noetic Sciences Institute, has good credentials too. Check on his site. He has a long list of some pretty prestigious institutions and journals he's worked with in the past. He's still a fraud, though.

Yeah, yeah, sorry, sorry. That's a common typo of mine. I made it a couple times earlier, but had to go back and replace "Jew," for "Israelite." For once, you're right.
