Google dear sir...google.
Just to summarise, there was a man named Mohammed, he was visited by an Arch-Angel named Gabriel. He was told to spread the word of G-d, or as it translated to Arabic Allah. Goes along the similar lines of the story of Abram/Abraham. Now, there is a connection between Mohammed and a concubine son of Abram, Ishamael. To get into the detail, I'd google it, use credible sources. For me to explain a whole religion, would take hours. |

What you've just summarised were the roots of a religion, not its entire doctrine. To understand Islam more, go to these websites. Of course there are much more on the net.
http://www.islam.com/
http://www.islamicfinder.org/
http://www.amrkhaled.net/
http://www.islamicity.com/
Of course, just as scheller said, you can google it. |

| Well I wasn't going to go into depth, I'm not a theologian or an expert of Islam, but I just felt like the roots are always the first step in understanding where things come from. |
