The Christian Bible has the Jewish Bible at it's front, the 'Old Testament', then the second part is the Christian 'New Testiment.'

I'm curious if the Koran is structured in any way like this?

Perhaps first the Jewish Bible, then the Christian Bible, then the Book of Islam?

Something like that?

I admit I am very ignorant.

Is there a brief description of the Koran, like in outline form, you know, like in a few pages or so? In English?

Thank you for your help,

at least I know I'm ignorant.

No the Koran is not structured like this. We muslims believe that the bible and the torah had been modified and changed. So they dont represent the words of god. They may have not been completely changed but they are still modified and changed from their original form.

That is correct.

The Quran, however, is said to be a direct copy of, well, the Celestial Quran, ergo it's the direct word of God- not a scripture originally written by humans.

Hi, thank you for the links.

When I clicked on them, it brought me to three basic links.

From the very short glance at each of those three links, gathered,

1. The Quran is important, came from Allah via Mohammed, self-evident of importance.

2. It contains moral teachings

3. It contains rules of life (laws you have to live by)

4. Millions have converted to Islam upon hearing even a single verse.

I have some remaining questions:

1a. What is on page one? Does it start from the beginning of the world, or ...?

1b. What might be found in the middle? (does it start at the beggining with moral teachings, then laws, then history... ?)

1c. How does it end? Does it have predictions about the future?

2. Is it written all by / via Mohammed? Or are other's writings included?

3. Is there anything like a short list of most important rules, like the Ten Commandments?

Thanks for your kind help.

The Koran is arranged from the biggest Suras (chapters) to the smallest ones. The Koran was compiled after prophet Muhammed's death by his companions and they chose to compile it that way.
But these are the very first verses that Angel Gabriel told Muhammed when the later first saw him. Gabriel hugged Muhammed very tight in his arms and told him to "read" but then prophet Muhammed didnt know how to read so he told him "Im not a reader" then Gabriel released him then hugged him again (harder) and told him to read and then again prophet Muhammed told him he cant read, then Gabriel released him again and then hugged him very hard that prophet Muhammed thought he would die, Gabriel for the 3rd time told him to read to which this time prophet Muhammed answered "what to read" then Gabriel recited the first verses of the Koran, here they are:

96:1 Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created-
96:2 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:
96:3 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,-
96:4 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,-
96:5 Taught man that which he knew not.

You can read the Koran here:

Quote: 1c. How does it end?

If im not mistaken this verse is one of the last ones:

5:3 ....... This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, God is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

I will check though to be sure.

Quote: Does it have predictions about the future?

Oh yes...alot. But the hadiths (sayings of prophet Muhammed) exceed those written in the Koran. Many of these hadiths tells us the signs that will take place before Judgment day. They are divided to "the small signes" and the "big signs". It is believed by many that all the small signs happened and we are living nowadays in the period before the big signs.

Now here are the prophecies Made in the Qur’an that Have Already Come True:

The whole Koran was revealed to prophet Muhammed (we have no such thing as the "saints" as in Christianity)

Quote: 3. Is there anything like a short list of most important rules, like the Ten Commandments?

Well Islam should be taken on its whole. So every single verse or command in it is very important. But we do have something called the pillars of Islam, which could be compared a bit to the ten commandments:

The Islamonline.net site is pretty good. Click on 'Islam teachings' on the far left of the page (below discover Islam) then click on 'The pillars of Islam'. (its in audio, which you might find more interesting)

Or, you can check it very quickly here:
http://www.islam101.com/dawah/pillars.html

If you have any other questions plz dont hesitate to ask.
