Bush Didn't Mislead on War, Adviser Says

WASHINGTON - While admitting "we were wrong" about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, President Bush's national security adviser on Sunday rejected assertions that the president manipulated intelligence and misled the American people.

Bush relied on the collective judgment of the intelligence community when he determined that Iraq's Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, national security adviser Stephen Hadley said.

"Turns out, we were wrong," Hadley told "Late Edition" on CNN. "But I think the point that needs to be emphasized ... allegations now that the president somehow manipulated intelligence, somehow misled the American people, are flat wrong."

It's not even feasible that he lied. Sensible people (both conservative and liberal) have known this for some time.

Democrat Party chairman Howard Dean in this interview today called Bush a liar... and then he said that they (the Democrats) are the party of mainstream American values.

I know that we have been round and round on this, but any of your care to dispute that there really are still WMD somewhere? Ha! Ha! Ha! I know some of you still believe, which is very sad, and the reason it is getting harder and harder to take the Reps seriously. Of course the rabid democrats claiming the have "mainstream values" is a crock too.

One of Bush’s EMPLOYEES said, intelligence was not manipulated, and he’s automatically exonerated? In the 'real world', an investigation or probe is what determines whether or not someone did something wrong, not one of the suspect’s employees.

Since it’s not even “feasible” that Bush lied, no one should have any problem with a full-scale investigation???

In any event, I have never thought Bush went out and lied. We were fooled. I admitted it a long long time ago, unlike Bush. I also know that without that main justification for the war the war was not worth it as no amount of Iraqis and their freedom from oppression and the golden calf of democracy is worth one cent of American treasure or one drop of American blood.

Although I'm an independent, I tend to take the liberal stance on this particular issue. But you're right. It's pretty obvious (to me anyway) that Bush didn't go to war knowing that Iraq had no Weapons of Mass Destruction.

WMDs should not be the issue; they are a political tactic, a campaign maneuver, made by the Democrats. The real issue was that the case was made that Iraq not only had WMDs, but also posed a direct threat to the United States and it did not. It has been found that Bush was aware of doubts expressed by the intelligence community. He and the administration intentionally presented suspicions as facts, not suspicions.

Regardless of whether WMDs were found or not, he presented a 'hunch' based on "historical" evidence, as solid factual information. Bush even described Iraq as being a possible greater threat than al Qaeda, who had already attacked us.

The country of Iraq, nor Saddam has ever made a successful attack on the United States, al Qaeda had made several before 9/11. Zero hijackers were from Iraq. No ties between Iraq and 9/11 had been found. And there was stronger evidence implicating other nations that were involved with the 9/11 attacks. George W. Bush knew this when he convinced the nation to invade Iraq to confront what he referred to as an “imminent threat.”

A.D. put that picture on there because he was trying to tie Bush to Christians. Unfortunatley A.D. is not wise enough to know that to many people that is a good thing.

at first I felt like he justified it by going to Afghanistan under the pretense that
we were helping the women of afghanistan be free from being stoned to death in the street. When he went to Iraq I thought it was somewhat for the same reason but also because the war on terror was so wide spread. I believed truely and deeply that terror cells were and are still in America... When he said that if you are not with us in the War against Terror than you must be a terrorist . That if your not with us your against us. I felt threatened
by that. I was afraid to have an alternate opinion or not want him to be president. I'm only 26. I've barely made it this far. My daddy's not
George H.W. Bush I was twelve years old in 1992 when this war started sir and I'd like it to be over in my lifetime please. I guess I've sort of got used to the place it seems insensitive but its an insensitive world I live in.
