| Russia and China made an economic alliance about four years ago I think to rebuild the dead ex soviet economy. Now they are taking a step closer to making a Eurasian security bloc to counter the NATO alliance. I was just wondering if they would even be able to get along or how strong such and alliance would be. Some mentioned members are India, Pakistan, Iran, Russia, and China. Such an alliance would probably destroy US influence in the region. Maybe its a ploy for some help when China goes into Taiwan? |

Hey, if everyone can get along over there, so much the better. But I have a feeling China's military won't like inaction, or being politically marginalized by capitalism too much longer.
The Russians will be safe. You guys are building an oil pipeline that gives China a boner. Smaller countries, like Taiwan, the Philipinnes, Japan, and South Korea will feel the pressure.
As for India? An unknown factor. They have plenty of resentment for China fostering conflict with Pakistan. But at the same time they are totally practical, and wouldn't do anything too foolish. They will be a close partner of the U.S., with the common connection of English, business ties, and sharing of advanced weapons engineering development. India will have MORE than enough capability to outpace China in terms of Weapons, and perhaps eventually even economically. ....Whether Inida wants to stick up for other countries in the region is really unknown. ...My guess is that they would fiercely protect some countries, while limiting their risk in protecting others.
As for the U.S. having limited influence, I kind of doubt it. Our banking guarentees that we have a vested interest in pretty much every area of the world. ESPECIALLY in places where there are emerging markets. Our influence may be limited to selling weapons, or providing intelligence. But I think it's safe to say, that since September 11th, we are less likely to be isolationist, and more likely to be combative, and willing to inflict greater casualties as a long term deterrant.
Our philosophy is openly declared. Human Rights, and Economically open borders. ...So I don't think it's influence that is necessarily against other country's best interests. |
