Both sides are wrong. Gays deserve equal rights, including marriage. But everyone deserves the right to freedom of speech. I don't agree with calling someone "fagg0t", hell, I think it's a horrible thing to say, but I will defend someone's right to say it without a doubt.

Myself, along with the Libertarian party, have a sensible solution; allow gays to marry, have gay sex, be gay, and don't have any discrimination against them on a governmental level. But, also, don't restrict freedom of speech with strict "anti-discrimination laws" or anything like that.

i basically agree with this. my issue is, just what does government have to do with marriage in the first place?

i mean, outside of requiring a bloodtest, which i support.

tax status should only be considered based upon your dependents, not by your gender preference or marritial status.

get government out of the marriage business!

BS. Humans are not naturally embracing of those who differ from them. It is, in fact, the government turning a blind eye to discrimination that some have tried to argue as tacit sanctioning of it.

We do not even need to debate human nature, but only look to the Muslim rioters in France. The French census does not acknowlege any difference between people in terms of race, religion, and a number of other factors. By pretending that racial and religious tensions do not exist, the governments hope(d) that they will cease to. Clearly, this is neither the reality nor the solution.

Is there great diversity in America? Yes. Is there great intolerence for that very diversity? Again, yes. Both vary depending upon location and nature of difference, but they certainly do exist.

It would be pretty fantastic if people were more tolerent, if anyone could get a job based purely on their ability to work at that job, and if everyone's personal life was as private as they wished it to be. But unfortunately, this is but a fantasy.

Would you mind providing a link to a story where anyone is trying to ban gay sex, stylish clothing, or Villiage People music? Try to keep your posts factual please.

Do you and your Libertarian friends also support poligamy?

So you support the court's decision in Lawrence v. Texas then?

Do you honestly believe that all gay people are obsessed with fashion and disco music? Funny, the last time I heard a song by the 'Village People' it was at an anniversary celebration for a heterosexual couple.

This is the view of most libertarians and myself:

Yes, polygamy is fine, if it's between consenting adults, because it's a contract. We have the unlimited right to contract.

You see, unlike you apparently, we don't think that things we disagree with should be banned by law.
