That aside, the report tells us that its culture we were swamped by. Culture has more impact on creating culture than genetics does. Duh.

Genetically speaking, yes. The Welsh and the Cornish merely retained their iron-age culture whilst the 'English' took on the cultural influences of the Germanic invaders.

It was a long time ago. We no longer worship the same pagan gods as the Germans and Scandanavians, and English, though in many respects similar to it's German ancestor, is a unique language all of it's own.
The use of English has spread to all four corners of the kingdom. To all intents and purposes, celtic culture part-time. Most of the time, almost all britons speak english and follow customs that originated in England. Even in Ireland........

My cousins on my mother's side are only little kids. They haven't had the opportunity to turn into arseholes yet. However, my mum's sister is a better person than either of my dad's sisters, so the signs are looking good that they won't grow up to be destestable ***** like my patrileneal cousins........
