| We haven't talked about him much on this forum but 38-year-old David Cameron is now the favourite to become the next leader of the conservative party. He's young, charismatic and seen as a reformer. Could he be the next Tony Blair? |

Sigh, lap of the God's...Maybe in another 4-7 years he will be pm, that would be worth a few quid for sure.

That is the reason i do not like him, Questiontime totally changed my mind about him David Davis maybe a bit dull but he is straight talking and could command respect in the commons as a speaker something that Tony Blair rarely does. |

We do need some seriousness in politics, and definately more of an intellectual heavy-weight.
We need some respect put back into politics. |

They're bound to, sooner or later Browns going to have to either cut spending or raise taxs even more. We all know he can't cut spending and theres no way that people to suffer yet another tax rise. |

I don't like his politics, but Davis gets a lot more respect from me than Cameron.
How is the campaign going? I don't really take much of an interest in Tory leadership contests. |

David Davis has always struck me as very straight talking. As far as I could make out he did suffer some sort of humilaitng setback at the party conference. Cameron is very charismatic and reformer, but what the conservatives in my opinion need most someone young.
I'm torn between wanting Blairite (neo-con) Labour to fall and not wanting the Conservatives to win. |

Well it's official.
Cameron has won the leadership by a landslide the question now is can he topple Labour and become Prime Minster. |

Between old neocon and new neocon there is no room for anything else, it will have to be independence with the SNP. The south will get Cameron as PM, we will get Brown to run our economy like Sweden and the ROI.

I think there might be other questions before he gets to that one.
Like: what policies will he endorse? |

The ROI is much more capitalist than Britain, have you seen their corporation tax recently?
Please do break away and we (the non-dependent part of the economy) might follow in Ireland's footsteps. |

Cameron is impressive. His performance during Prime Minister's Questions was the best piece of political theatre I've seen in a long time. To start with he insulted the Labour Party's chief whip! Went on to undermine the Labour backbenchers' confidence in Blair by telling the PM that he didn't need because he has the Tory Party's support for all his education reforms and then said "I want to talk about the future - he (meaning Blair) was the future once!"
Fantastic stuff!
It is going to be an interesting few years until the 2009 general election! For once there is no guarantee who's gonna win! |
