What a great example of you living up to your name! It seems two wrongs truly do make a right! Thank you for "Opening my Mind".

From "What's the Matter with Kansas" by Thomas Frank:

Not long ago, Kansas would have responded to the current situation by making the bastards pay. This would have been a political certainty, as predictable as what happens when you touch a match to a puddle of gasoline. When business screwed the farmers and the workers - when it implemented monopoly strategies invasive beyond the Populists' furthest imaginings -- when it ripped off shareholders and casually tossed thousands out of work -- you could be damned sure about what would follow.

Not these days. Out here the gravity of discontent pulls in only one direction: to the right, to the right, further to the right. Strip today's Kansans of their job security, and they head out to become registered Republicans. Push them off their land, and next thing you know they're protesting in front of abortion clinics. Squander their life savings on manicures for the CEO, and there's a good chance they'll join the John Birch Society. But ask them about the remedies their ancestors proposed (unions, antitrust, public ownership), and you might as well be referring to the days when knighthood was in flower.

Thomas Frank. Now there is a fine example of a fair-minded, reasonable person! :-D

California and New York have lotsa Conservatives. Conservatives don't usually bash liberal regions of America, they prefer bashing Canada and Europe. Liberals like bashing the South (Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, etc. etc.) and other parts of "red America". The midwest is pretty liberal in parts, like Wisconsin, Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit.

It's funny how you claim to have "An Open Mind" but willingly engage in discrimination and stereotyping a whole group of people. I bet you don't like Israelis or white South Africans either.

By the way, I support the legalization of gay marriage.

I have lived in Kansas all my life.

I have but one question for you.

Do you believe everything you read?

I certainly don't and even though Mr. Frank states in this "book" of his (ugh) that he was a resident of Kansas at one time, I do not think he knows as much as he thinks he does about Kansas and it's residents.

I have read this book and I have first hand experience in living here.

It's chock full of generalizations and speculations.

I don't see this as a laughing matter.

GND...

I'll go so far as to say that if it wasn't for Kansas, we could NOT have won WWII.

Cheers to you - you flat-lander! (Unless, of course, you're in NE Kansas)

Woot woot, stop the "inpropper use of words" train....

Rednecks aren't a race.

Woot woot! Stop the "I'm so ignorant I don't know the meaning of words" train....

Definition of Bigot

One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

Rednecks aren't a race.

Neither are homosexuals.

Nope, not an ethnicity. But they are a type of person, like gender difference.

Heterosexist is the proper term, rather than racist or bigot, no?

Listen all of you. Listen to what you are all saying. Lets all get down to it. An older man having sex with a 14 year old boy or even younger or older is morally wrong. And nobody say to me, yourself, or anyone else that they have a right to do this. Honestly, a fragile young mind that hasn't even gone through puberty is subjected to a manipulator that has fetish taste and craves what he or she knows is wrong. They put people like this behind bars for a reason. Simply... a crime against humanity. What if you had a younger brother, say 14, and he told you that he was sexually active with a man down the street. Now we all know this is highly hypothetical, but isn't this what is happening now? in fact it is and i know for sure that its going on over and over Kansas and in the US. My opinion is clear, please don't support people like this that do such things, i know we all have free opinion and i respect that, but lets try to be moral and just.

As a person living in Kansas, I'd like to note that I am not a "redneck" nor would I be offended if I was called one.

way to prioritize. yea some open mind?

What cracks me up is that when people celebrate or discuss an issue that isn't at the top of the neocon's priority list, we are admonished. But, were someone outside the GOP to bring up the amount of dead soldiers, we would be told that we were trying to capitolize on a tragedy.

"Welcome to the GOP, where you are right if we say you are."

We aren't supporting the man because we think his crime was no big deal. We support him based on the fact that the punishment for his crime was harsher than it would have been had it been a heterosexual sex act.

Is this man a criminal, thus deserving of punishment? Yes. Is the punishment more severe because of a law based on inequality? Yes.

Which explains the multiple gay threads you started.

So why is gay marriage illegal?

Why souldn't the US gov't recognize gay marriage?

what is it with you people having to pigeon hole everyone?

Now if you are against gay marriage you are the biggest bigot ever born?

what the f*ck?

My only point is there are a thousand bigger problems in the world.

So why the three anti gay threads then? Or were not enough Americans dead for you to notice?

That's what I'm saying. If it wasn't so important, Trumps, then why did you start THREE threads about gay marriage one of which is 65 pages long?! I agree there are more important issues at hand which is why I am in favor of giving allowing gays to marry so they can get the benefits they deserve so we can focus on the more important issues.
