This is about the man who was ejected from the Labour Party Conference for heckling at Jack Straw:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4292342.stm
A quote from the article
'After being ejected Mr Wolfgang's pass was seized and he was detained under the Terrorism Act when he tried to re-enter the conference on Wednesday.'
I really would love someone to explain how this 82 year old anti-war activist was a terrorist. I knew they would abuses these new powers but not this quickly :(
What does everyone else think?[/i] |

| Democracy in Iraq. It seems Labour have hard time practicing what they preach. Perhaps Jack Straw needs protecting from an 82yr old mans heckling. But what Britain needs is protecting from The Blair definition of Free Speech |

Have you seen the video footage of Mr Wolfgang's ejection? The security guards were less than civil or gentle about the manner in which they conducted themselves in the situation, despite the relative minor incidence of the offence and the man's rather obvious frailness. One of many frankly disgusting occurrences at this week's Labour party conference.
Right to the actual real point, although i have since heard that Mr Wolfgang himself said that the police were laughing when they gave the reasoning for his ejection and that he was not formally charged under anti-terrorism charges, i disagree with much of the anti-terrorist legislation on principle anyway. If the Government has such powers they will inevitably be abused at some stage. |

yes i heard that too (after i posted this) but the fact that he was detained under the anti-terrorism laws was worrying even if he was not charged, such a precedent could lead the way for arbitrary arrests using the anti-terrorism legislation when the police can not find a real law the person has broken.
I think someone from the police should clarify how exactly he was detained under the anti-terrorism laws and what part of the them he broke, or if anyone knows please do tell me. |
