A sample of lesbians in the city does not neccessarily represent a good many lesbians in the city.

Unless you are bisexual, it matters to everyone whether you have a sexual relationship with a man or a woman.

Yes, but with age comes wisdom and experience. She has more experience than you and therefore knows more about the subject than you. And a sample of a particular group CAN represent a good many memebers of that group. In polls do you think they actually go around and ask every single person what they think on the issue? NO! That would take far too much time and would be inefficient.

No, true, they don't ask every single member of a population what their stance is. However, in order to draw an accurate analysis of a group as a whole, one needs to have sampled a proportionate number of people. This will allow for a higher confidence level when reporting data.

To use your same example, do you think that polls are conducted by only asking ONE member of a population? No. It would be inaccurate to generalize based on one opinion.

Is it possible that the woman is right? Yes. Is it likely? That can not be stated with any degree of confidence, as she is one person commenting on the motives of others.

I guess you're right. It just makes sense to me what she said. So logical. I'm still going to believe her because it makes me feel good.

You know why I love debating Protostar? Because he is so logical and rational in his thinking, you know if he believes something it is for a good reason.

Thank you for not letting this turn in to childish name-calling (as too many on this board do). :)

(But, I do like your point of believing it because it makes you feel good. )

I know. If only more women found that appealing. :( Anyway, we still didn't finish our women vs. men debate in that thread you started. I forgot what it was called "If I were a man I would be a feminist" or something like that. I remember it was right after the big femi-nazi wars between me, some other guys and perpetrator.

You know the one, where we were going back and forth about what men have contributed to society, and if women ruled the world and stuff like that. You created it, you should remember.
