Does this mean you, Hargreaves, would not be accepted into the big happy Australian family? Why, if each and every single Aussie really was tolerant and accpeted freedom of religion and speech, there wouldn't be comments made by people like Nelson, and there certainly wouldn't be a Howard government. But I suppose there really isn't such a thing as Australian values, as the concept exists only as an abstraction in the minds of people such as yourself.
Tolerance of intolerance is not the "tolerance" of which I praise. Being tolerant of religion does not include being tolerant of people who preach an intolerance of other religion, for instance, because it will eventually destroy social norms. It is unreasonable to expect tolerance of all in a free society whilst at the same time maintaining that free society - is a society that bans racist comments intolerant in your view?
And cut the partisan crap about Howard too - by suggesting that Howard voters are intolerant racist bigots you merely help to highlight the idiocy of your entire post. Good day sir.
Eh? You're not making much sense, Hargreaves. I fail to see how being tolerant of people who preach an intolerance of religion will eventually lead to the destruction of social norms, whatever the latter may be. Nevertheless, I'm in favour of being intolerant of people who are themselves intolerant – our friend Dr. Nelson being one such person, whose stay in Australia is long overdue, in my opinion.
In spite of this, I had hoped you would have recognised the humorous aspect of my post. It was originally conceived as a joke on the part of people such as yourself, whose appeal to the mystical concept of national values never fails to amuse me. Yet you've intepreted it as some sort of general attack on Howard's voters, or on the Australian people which is, quite simply, as far from the truth as can possibly be. It wages an attack on the Howard government and the concept of national values which, on both counts, you've failed to refute. Instead, you've attacked me personally with the type of innane comments I'd expect from a child. These, far from discrediting my argument, only go to strengthen it, and they reveal something about your mentality that I will not forget. :-D |

I don't care what religion you are, where you come from or what you do in the privacy of your own home but at the end of the day, this is Australia. We are not a muslim nation, you can practice your faith unpersecuted but you must respect our law first and foremost. This is fundamental if you want to stay in this country, we have laws and beliefs that countless men and women have died for. If you cannot fathom this and stick to this rational, then get out. There are six things every future Australian should do:
1. Speak english to a reasonable standard, if you don't want to at least attempt to learn the language then piss off.
2. You have to fit in here, we will help you but we don't want to change our way of life, our laws or our beliefs to accomodate you, I mean who the f$^k do you think you are if this is what you think should happen?
3. Don't b**** and complain about how the country you left something along the lines of Wheel Barrow with a K followed with stan on the end was so much better then life in Australia, if it was so much better then here then piss back off over there.
4. Become a citizen as soon as you can, get a job or eductation if need be and work hard. Australia is the kind of country that rewards hardwork, you can do very well for you and your family if you work hard.
5. If you don't vote or vote for Adam Sandler as an invalid vote then don't b**** about the government.
6. Don't disrespect our fallen servicemen or current serving soldiers because of our government policy, if you have a problem with troops going to Iraq, (I am an Iraqi Veteran btw) then don't blame the troops, we're taking orders. Take it up with the government, it is your democratic right. |
