Wow, this is so amusing to say the least! You would think they have better things to do, obviously not! "Trying to fight homosexuality one cup at a time"!!!
Quote: School Removes Cups With Gay Author Quote
A dining contractor has removed coffee cups with a gay author's quote from a Starbucks at Baylor University, saying it was inappropriate for the Baptist school.
Aramark, which oversees the coffee outlet, pulled the cups earlier this month from the campus store after consulting with Starbucks' district office and Baylor's dining service, school officials said Monday.
"I think they were trying to be sensitive," Baylor spokesman Larry Brumley said. "Obviously, Baylor is a Baptist-affiliated institution, and Baptists as a denomination have been pretty outspoken on the record about the denomination's views about the homosexual lifestyle."
The quote from novelist Armistead Maupin reads:
"My only regret about being gay is that I repressed it for so long. I surrendered my youth to the people I feared when I could have been out there loving someone. Don't make that mistake yourself. Life's too damn short."
Cade Hammond, president of the board of directors for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Central Texas, said he thinks the cups' removal as unnecessarily restrictive.

They believe that homosexuality is wrong, why would they have a gay author on their drink cups. they probably ordered the cups without knowing what was on them. |

Agreed.
It's a Baptist school. |

| haha at first i thought it was a bit rediculous because i was thinking it was merely a quote from a gay author that had nothing to do with homosexuality at all. like a cole porter lyric or something... imo to ban something like that would be petty and actually bring more attention just by banning it. but upon reading the actual quote, it obviously goes against what they are teaching at the school. and having attended christian school AND being gay, although i agree with the quote personally i can see why they would want it taken away. and that is their right. but hopefully gay students will come to the realization on their own without the need for gay acceptance quotes... |

| As much as I think they are being a bit too nit-picky over this, it is their right. As a private, religious, institution they have every right to remove material that they feel does not coincide with their ideals. |

| I didn't say anything about forcing them to use those cups! I said that " this is so amusing to say the least! You would think they have better things to do, obviously not! "Trying to fight homosexuality one cup at a time"!!!" |
