Why do Hebrews write Teth-Vav and Teth-Zain for 15 and 16, respectively, instead of Yud-He and Yud-Vav (respectively?) Is it b/c Yud-He and Yud-Vav might be interpreted with some type of deep religious significance? If so, what is that significance?
Also, what does Yud-Yud mean in Hebrew? |

Also, what does Yud-Yud mean in Hebrew?
As far as I know, it has to do with not writing out the name of G-d, same reason I put a dash in the word.
Yud Yud is substituted in the texts other than Torah for the 4 letter name of G-d. Same reason - so that people don't start pronouncing the 4 letter name.
But it is not pronounced as yud yud, it is pronounced as Adonai. In the Torah itself, the 4 letter name is obviously spelled out, but when we read it outloud it is also pronounced Adonai. |

So basically if I wanted to write the Four Letter Name out in some text, other than the Torah, I would just write "yud-yud" instead?
Doesn't yud-yud also mean "Hand of God", or something to that effect? |

Yes, they can. But I assume they don't want people here in the US getting in the mode of asking them on Shabbat online. Of course, it can happen the other way around, but what can you do.
In any case, just the fact of 24/6 by itself, whatever the reason, carries with it a good message. |
