|

Quote: Gay, Straight, or Lying?
A new study of sexual arousal suggests that men are sexually aroused by either females or males, but not by both. The study differs from a study of women published last November by the same team researchers which found that most women who said they were bisexual showed arousal to both men and to women.
According to the New York Times article:
"The researchers asked the men about their sexual desires and rated them on a scale from 0 to 6 on sexual orientation, with 0 to 1 indicating heterosexuality, and 5 to 6 indicating homosexuality. Bisexuality was measured by scores in the middle range.
"Seated alone in a laboratory room, the men then watched a series of erotic movies, some involving only women, others involving only men. Using a sensor to monitor sexual arousal, the researchers found what they expected: gay men showed arousal to images of men and little arousal to images of women, and heterosexual men showed arousal to women but not to men.
"But the men in the study who described themselves as bisexual did not have patterns of arousal that were consistent with their stated attraction to men and to women. Instead, about three-quarters of the group had arousal patterns identical to those of gay men; the rest were indistinguishable from heterosexuals."

Hmm ... this complicates the matters. Is there such a thing as truly bisexual? :? This study suggests that people are either gay or straight. They can't be bisexual. :? |

| i would think if people could be intersexed (sort of born in between sexes), then one could also be born truly bisexual. but being a gay dude i really can't say. interesting though |

| Eh. I've always suspected that most supposedly bisexual men are actually just gay. It seems to me that it makes it easier for them to come out, since at least they still have common ground with most of society. |

Indeed. One of my long-time friends told me he was bisexual about three years ago... and he hasn't slept with a woman in about that long. He now admits to being gay, and even told me pretty much the same thing as I said above: that it was just easier for him to admit to being sexually attracted to men when he could also say he was sexually attracted to women.
I know plenty of genuinely bisexual women, however, my girlfriend being one of them. And I'll tell you what: bisexual women kick f***ing ass :D |

Maybe for some people, but I can honestly say I don't favor one sex over the other. I sway back and forth and it has been that way with me for a long time.
Sexual oreintation is not black and white, I personally think everyone is bisexual to one degree or another. |

Hmmm ... interesting! You get the best of both worlds I guess! |

Bisexuals recieve a lot of talk about being confused about our sexuality or that we are in denial about being gay, especially from the gay community in itself.
I know what I am, I'm not in a transition and I'm out of the closet. |

I envy you. A true bisexual gets the best of both worlds. I've had many best friends I would date in a second if I knew I could love them right. Of course whether or not they'd date me is a whole other issue  |
