My mother loses her insurance and develops cancer...so I "marry" her so she can be covered by my employers health insurance. The list goes on and on.
Becasue of all of the things tied to marriage in this society - society has every right to decide what constitutes a legal marriage. Sorry if you dont like the decision this society has made.
that is for the insurance company to decide, not government. as a private organization, they should have the right to define what they will accept when it comes to giving benefits. if they choose to recognize any kind of marrige, then your example would work, although i assume these corporations are smart enough to find a way to prevent what you are talking about.
and, actually, society has very few rights, and our founders intended it that way. society is bound by the constitution and bill of rights, so, society never had the authority to make this decision. |
