%59 of Americans support amendment banning gay marriage.
In a stronger wording of the poll, support slipped down to %51.
How cool is that? |

It goes to show 59% of Americans don't understand our constitutional rights and are more interested in the private lives of others than real issues. Even going so far as to touch the constitution over something so trivial. The lack of respect, ugh!
Sad... give it time... |

| Popular support does not determine what is right. If it did, opinions would never change and politics would be unnecessary. |

Yes, real issues, such as killing helpless fetuses, as posted in another mirror thread?

Thank you, The Z.
This was a mirror thread of the %68 abortion thread. He hit the nail on the head. |

Right, if it did we would be a democracy.
We are a republic and our rights are protected from the majority.

I also don't have any respect for someone who deliberately drags in a non-related issue, keep it in the other thread! |

Oh, that's right, I forgot, you all care more about the "lives" of fetuses than those of our troops. My bad. |

The Troops Volunteered, the fetus didn't. So your attempt to play moral high card is.. oh, snap! Shot to flames.
try again. |

Don't try and think for yourself AND all Republicans; might get the Blue Screen of Death. Ya know, system meltdown, that sort of thing. We'll give you our opinions when we feel the need to lower your self-esteem. |

try again. The troops died. The Republicans would rather focus on "Fetus slaughter" than actual human beings with cognative function (Like...Iraqi civilians) being slaughtered. And what's more, you're absolutely right! The fetuses didn't volunteer! Why? Because...um...oh, yeah! They are not physically capable of volunteering, as they have absolutely no cognative mental functioning.
Thank you come again please. |

A small percentage of our troops died; a high percentage of abortions died, somewhere near %100. So are you admitting fetuses are being slaughtered? |

Quote: Oh, that's right, I forgot, you all care more about the "lives" of fetuses than those of our troops. My bad.
we digress......
On the subject at hand......
Based on the fact that Religion is defined as follows:
Quote: Main Entry: re·li·gion
Pronunciation: ri-'li-j&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English religioun, from Latin religion-, religio supernatural constraint, sanction, religious practice, perhaps from religare to restrain, tie back -- more at RELY
1 a : the state of a religious <a nun in her 20th year of religion> b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
Could it not be argued, based upon entries 2 and 4.....that it is within a gay person's religion to be able to become married? It would seem most of them believe it to be so. |
