I'll just post the reality of the situation here and then depart from this thread.
Gay Marriage as an issue is dead.
State after state have already revised their Constitutions to make bans on it legal.
The Supreme Court will be pushed to the Right in the next few years and I dont think the gay agenda will appreciate the majority decisions written by Thomas and Scalia.
The timing was bad on this and the way it was attempted (think SF) only inflamed the opposition.
Better luck next time - next time being in about 30-40 years. |

Luckily, I don't have to worry about that. I feel better off knowing that, in Canada at least, homosexuals are accorded the same priviledges as heterosexuals. I'd like to see government out of marriage altogether... but at least there is equality in our servitude ;) |

Keep in mind that this is a man who once beat one of his sons over two hundred times with a mattock handle. Several of his estranged children suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder because of the crap they endured from this bastard.

| If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd speculate that the entire reason for Fred Phelp's existance is to make the slightly more 'tolerant' look like nice people in comparison. |

Now he's protesting American soldier funerals, since God of course made GWBush goto war so he could strike his vengence upon the US for harboring homosexuals. IT ALL MAKES SENSE. Therefore, logically, we all should go and protest at soldiers funerals....

Bingo.
You can put a tiarra on a pig and call it a princess - but it is really still just a pig.
Homosexuals can "play house" if they want but they will never be a real family. So what constitutes a family in your eyes? Is it only a mother, father, and their own biological children? What about single parents? What about married couples without children? What about blended families, children raised by grandparents, etc?
When the concept of "family" is so abstract as to not be able to define it except in terms of what you feel it should NOT be, there can be no logical way to deny another's claim of what constitutes their own family.
But, back to the subject, Fred Phelps is a very sick man. The first, and last, time I visited his website I literally got sick over his "tribute" to Matthew Shephard. Saying he "got what he deserved" made me angry, ill, and saddened all at once. No one deserves to be tied to a post and pistol-whipped. |
