i was just wondering. to all my fellow heterosexuals out there, how old were you when you chose to be straight, do you remember the circumstances around it? why did you choose to be straight?
i need some help here, because, for the life of me, i cant remember when i made the decision.
i would just like to know if a single heterosexual can honestly tell me they woke up one day and figured "you know, i think ill be attracted to the opposite sex" and, if they think they could now choose to be gay, should they want to for whatever reason. |

I didn't realise you "decided" whether you were gay or straight. But I expect your question is rather when did you realise one way or the other.
I can't remember that either. I just started looking at girls in different ways to boys, just happens. |

| I've always been attracted to girls since the earliest I can remember. It never occured to me that there is a transition period where you 'decide' whether you are attracted to boys or girls.... :? |

I suspect he's doing it to highlight the absurdity of the claim that homosexuality is a "choice". |

I knew I was straight before I knew there was another option
Could I make myself gay if I wanted to? I think so, with lots of time and effort. But why I would want to do that is beyond me. |

| you don't have to consciously choose it to choose it. there are external factors that we may not understand. |

Hmm. So I guess you decided to make your body produce hormones that will make you attracted to the opposite sex. |

It is as much of a beginning choice as it is a continual choice. I've always been closer to girls in general than guys (kinda makes some guys think I am gay) - but I do have guys that are close friends, as well - although they are fewer in number. I have chosen, and continue to choose the opposite sex. Although there is very little effort that goes into this choice, it is still a choice that I could decide to change - however I don't see myself doing that because I am happy where I am and I've got a girl that means the whole world to me - and hopefully she feels somewhat similar.
It's a choice that is influenced by factors, yes, but a choice just the same. Pitch a fit all you want - it's still a choice. |

i have just heard many heterosexuals arguing that sexual orientation is a choice, i was wondering if anyone had anecdotal evidence to back this up. |

something being environmental isnt the same as something being a choice. choice to me implies precisly that it is conscious. |

well, i wanted to see if anyone could tell me that they consciously chose it. in fairness though, i already believe the idea that it is a choice is indeed absurd, i just continiue to hear the argument. |

Well, I guess I make the choice every time I allow a female to experience my sweet loving.
I'm pretty sure I could make myself be gay, if I really tried to. I was not raised in an environment where it was seen as an acceptable lifestyle, so I wasn't given an opportunity to be raised in that mindsight. That said, maybe I'm gay, and I just don't know it. I guess that's really the point. Everyone is secretly gay - they just need to come to admit it. |
