Though I doubt you'd appreciate this, there have been studies in which a person that is exhibiting signs of homosexuality was able through therapy to lose these feelings and be fully heterosexual. I'll try and google out a few links.
No thanks, I'm not interested in being brainwashed by some so-called doctor. I am perfectly happy as I am, now that I am no longer a Christian. My homosexuality was never the problem, my religion was. That is the wrong choice that I made, and now that I've unchosen it, I already feel much better and much more free.
i find it disturbing that you are willing throw away what it seems you have beleived your whole life when there is at least a possibility that you wouldnt have to if u got counseling
p.s nobody's gonna brain wash you, thereapists are not allowed to use hypnosis techniques without the patients consent
u say your happy the way you are, yet is it really "the way you are if there is a possibility that it is just an unhealthy way of releasing emotions?" you should at least have an open mind about this and TRY thereapy |

Prince Julius- the only problem I see that you have is that you come here to politicalcrossfire for answers. We are only human and we could be leading you down the wrong path. We can give you our opinions but as far as we know, my opinion as well as everyone elses opinon could be completely bunk. Search for you own answers through God and dont let a man tell you what is good and what is not.
But remember "honor your mother and father and your days will be long on the earth." As long as you live under their roof you should respect their rules.
I am a Christian that became one because of my own research. I choose to go out and look for the answers and this is where it led me. That could change tomorrow, but as of this moment I am 100% a believer in the faith of Jesus Christ.
Dont let any person judge your actions becuase only God can judge you. People can only try to persuade you that there ideas are most likely to be correct.
If you feel that you can live a homosexual lifestyle and and love God 100% more power to you. I can tell you that I dont think it is correct but again my opinion is nothing compared to the absolute truth of God. You have to believe in your heart that being a homosexual does not affect whether or not you will enter the gates of heaven. Whether or not you can love God first and foremost and be homosexual at the same time. If not, there is probably something wrong with your lifestyle. ( Again just my opinion )
IMO- God presents himself to every believer differently. Some must go through trials and tribulations. Others are born with a religion. But somehow in the end, all of us will know the truth whether we are right or wrong.
As far as John being attacked for debating. I believe this is a debate board. He can give his opinion on the subject matter. If you cannot handle a debate, you should not be on this board. He backs up all of his argument with scripture. Most Christians believe the bible is the absolute truth of God ( metaphoricallyor literally). And this is a Christian forum.
Last but not least, dont confuse religion and the evil ways of men with God. Christianity is a faith, nothing more. It is a belief that Jesus Christ died for your sins and hopefully all other things fall into place after that. Search for your own answers and dont give up like some of these people on this board. Don't be content with "their may or may not be a God." Don't be satisfied with the bodily pleasures of this earth. There is something more waiting for you with open arms. Go out and search for it. You will find something out there and gain much knowledge on the way to YOUR truth. |

Really? I have yet to see him make an inflammatory post, yet you make them all the time. He is far less of a troll than you. |

And if you had came to that conclusion through logic, then I would totally respect that. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case. From what I have gathered, you are a scorned 13 yr. old who turned his back on God because He wouldn't let you see your gay lover anymore? First of all, that is a completely silly reason to suddenly shift from belief to non-belief. Second, if you are 13, it's very hard for you to know anything at that age. snow, i'm very impressed with your method of outreach. |

It's a folly to try and change others.. :-|
Falwell should consider trying to change himself first. A wise man once said something about removing the log from your own eye, before you worry about the speck in someone else's.. I wonder if Falwell would be able to recognize the wise man who uttered those words.. |

I feel like crap for missing all of this, but my internet access has not been spectacular as of late. For as anyone who's familiar with me knows, the orthodox Christian treatment of homosexuality is one of my biggest falling-out points with the Church. I really only have a few thoughts to offer you, being young and ignorant myself. If any of them helps, then I will feel like I did something.
1. We are all young and ignorant.
2. Approach all religious questions from the standpoint of, not sectarianism, but belief in a higher power. It's easy to deny the truth when you are dead-set on denying it from the outset.
3. Never stop seeking truth. Never be confident that you have come upon the absolute truth. Never be satisfied with your answers. Because men are by their nature imperfect, small, young, and ignorant, there's no way we can honestly have it all figured out.
4. I disagree with some of the opinions expressed here. Live according to your own conscience. God matters--but live according to your rules, because the rules in any book or on the lips of any other man are NOT the rules of God. IMHO.
5. His will be done.
6. As angry as you feel, thirteen is still very, very young. I know you feel resentful when somebody tells you that you just don't get it at your age, but take at least a while to consider that they might be right. Hell, I hated it when I got lectured to at your age and now, seven years after the fact, I know that I really was nearly as ignorant as I was told.
7. Love and be gay. Anyone arguing against love is fooling themself. See number 5.
8. About David--you need to determine the best course of action for yourself. Could you talk to your parents or his without instigating a serious blowup? Would they understand if you were mature about it? I don't know your exact circumstances, but it seems likely to me that this may be something you have to suffer through. Bear it like a man and at least try to stay in touch with David.
9. Life just s*cks sometimes. Bluntly put--get used to it. As a homosexual this won't be the first or last time that the world will f**k you over. Just learn to bear your crosses with dignity and you'll be more Christian than the pope.
10. Because ten is better than nine. Laugh more. It helps. |

Anyone want to try to convince me to stay a Christian? Here's your chance.
I have struggled with this issue as well & here is what I have learned:
I never try to convince someone to stay or become a Christian. That is up to the individual. It is their choice. That being said;
1) Since you do have choices in life (where you live, what you do, where you go, who you live), you need to learn to live with the good & bad that comes with each choice. Sometimes that means you have to be thick skinned, (Christian or not). Since it is your choice, you will have to answer for what you do in life so you live your life the way you believe you should.
2) There are ‘hard-core’ people out there that hate what they don’t understand & even if it were proven 110% that a person’s sexuality isn’t a choice, they will still look down at you because a 2000+ year old book says so. That is a fact that you will need to accept.
3) You shouldn’t blame God for things you can or can’t do. Everyone can do whatever they want, rather or not they believe in God. It is the consequence(s) you need to be concerned about. Rather the consequences are “God-ly” or secular, there are consequences to everything you do.
4) Many people believe that being gay (actively or not) isn’t a sin. There are many different thoughts to the matter. I would encourage you to do research before you ‘up & leave’ your faith.
5) YOU have to decide what’s right for you. YOU need to have a personal relationship with God & it’s your business, no one else’s. You don’t have to prove ANYTHING to ANYONE else. If they don’t like what you do or if they don’t like you, s*cks to be them.
It appears to me that you might have over-reacted to the situation. Instead of ‘going crazy’, & if you do truly value your faith, do some research. Do some deep soul searching. Only thing can you make the best decision for you. |

Congratulations connermt, you've just revived a YEAR OLD THREAD. I'm sure you're proud of yourself. Anyways, Now that you bumped this thread I have to comment on it even if everyone that cares is eaither not interested anymore or no longer visiting these forums.
IMHO, PrinceJunius is completely correct, Jehova is not fair, the world is not fair, if david was a girl they would say "wow look at them it's so cute they're in love it's so beautiful", instead, society sees their love as something dirty, perverted, and wrong, It's a damn shame...
Now I think it's time to let this thread die :-/ |
