A Crooked Politician Likes a Crooked System

How do you bring a crooked politician to account?
When they’ve covered all the angles and just can’t be found out?
We should design a system of checks and balance if we care,
But the media and the newspapers tell us we don’t dare.

The mindset of the public has been set by this media,
Set on track with every phrase in the encyclopedia,
Directing matters of national concern, hype and agenda,
Pushing pompous communist notions with their propaganda.

The Charter is an example of being led down the garden path,
By scheming politicians taking the people for a bath,
Without referendums or recall or impeachment no less,
And we believed it all with the propaganda of the press.

No proportional representation ‘cause that could break the spell,
Of sticking to the status quo and accepting those from hell,
And you are just a nobody who probably doesn’t vote,
They’ve factored you in the numbers because you’re just another goat

The Auditor General’s Report and Canadian Liberals

The Auditor General wrote that they were crooks,
Even the RCMP and Via Rail cooked their books,
They’ll have an inquiry into this affair,
Sweep it under the carpet without subpoenas there.


Millions of dollars in commissions she said,
Fictitious paper to cover thievery she read,
Sponsorship projects with artificial invoices,
Contracts with elaborate accounting devices.


Disturbing practices during all those Chrétien years,
While he and Finance Minister both looked on with leers,
Crown corporations in this scheme up to their necks,
Politicians and all those they appoint and select.


This wasn’t just a case of bending the rules,
Their methods were designed to take us all for fools,
But we knew it in the Shawinigan affair,
And we still reelected that Liberal pair.


Just a political scandal they will say,
Call an election we know how and who to pay,
Without set election dates we choose the time and date,
No need for referendums and no need to debate.

Report of the Auditor General 2004

Does the Auditor’s Report seem a little strange?
Majority Liberals promise they’ll rearrange,
Accountability has never been their strong suit,
More interested in special funding and loot.


Bought Challenger jets and wrote the checks,
Laundered money sent secretly to Quebec,
Dishonest unaccountable and out of control,
Shred the paper to hide everything they stole.


Feined interest in dodgy democracy for a fact,
As they hid shenanigans in the Access Act,
Where no one could go without special permission.
Secrets hidden from Conservative opposition.


But they’re great guys down at the United Nations,
Where they cover their tracks with no implications,
Our soldiers getting killed over in Afghanistan,
Pushed by Liberal propaganda since it began.


No referendums, no recall ever allowed,
No impeachment of a PM is ever espoused,
But they did it before under the table and ran,
‘Cause the Shawinigan stuff never hit the fan.


But it gave them a license – permission to steal,
Give out millions to friends and no one will squeal,
Travel the world for free in our Challenger jets,
‘Cause money don’t count and Canadians forget.


Inquiry will cover everything – oh my gosh!
Which Liberal could they appoint for this whitewash?
Timid terms with no subpoenas of the crown,
Like APEC inquiry -- invitation turned down.

Political Donations for Quebec

Ottawa politicians seem to love Quebec,
No qualms about signing a billion-dollar check,
Ontario and the others can just rub salt,
All political problems are just their fault.

Ontario referendum for separation,
To get to hell out of this confederation,
‘Cause if Quebec can do it and get all that money,
Ontario could get checks too – not very funny.

Should I apologize for these terrible thoughts?
Or not dwell on Shawinigan-Ottawa defaults,
Should I just go along for the Liberal ride?
Do nothing, say nothing and let it all slide.

Or can they spin their way out of this scandal?
Find their way in the dark with dimly lit candle?
The Somalia Inquiry -- they closed it down,
Quietly one afternoon in the name of the crown.

‘Cause the Liberals themselves would never steal,
Though they funnel taxpayers’ money to whom they deal,
Like in their Charter where equality is in,
But Liberals are more equal and allowed to sin.
