I would just like to ask this, what does Japan have to lose from apologising? It's similar to american and canadian governments apologising for purposly spreading smallpox, sure it isn't our current governments or societies that are responsible, but it still helps to mend fences, at the very least it shows that the current model doesn't condone such actions.
Japan is acting rather arrogantly and it isn't helping anyone. Germany attoned for Hitler, Japan should at least say that they aren't proud of Hirihito. Publishing textbooks that omit the atrocities? that's like claiming the holocaust never happened. I like Japan, but this is one hell of an oversight, and nobody seems to care. |

well there was an apology from koizumi to the "comfort women" but apparently it wasn't enough. i read that these women want a museum, memorials and shrines set up in japan as part of the apology.
i don't know why the government won't apologize, but like others have said, they are hurting themselves because of their pride.
it's like turkey and the armenian genocide... |

Japan should fully apologise for it's warcrime. The great travesty and issue I have with Japan is not the fact that they havent made waves of apologies, but the fact that they dont recognize their own crimes.
They in fact glorify their war criminals they have 7 class A war criminals buried in their national war memorial tomb and they are visited en masse by millions of people including grade school field trips. They dont condemn they crimes of the past or overtly acknowledge them implicit acceptance is not good enough, not for political reasons but for historical ones. With each passing year Japan moves further from acceptance and shrouds it further, what will Japans children think when one day it will become so clouded and so diluted in their history books that they will completely ignore Japans crimes?
That is the true problam with Japans actions in this regard. |

| But its difficult isn't it because those Japanese children who are born now they didn't commit the war crimes, I don't think they should be made to feel guilty just because of where there born, sure the crimes should be remembered but the Japanese shouldn't feel guilty as a nation for the crimes of here for father's. |

| I agree the problam is they are barely remembered at all instead as I stated before many of their own war criminals are glorified and honored. |
