nowadays some people says that we should prepare for another war with Japan, and some call those who attack the Japanese embassy or Japanese restaurants patriots. i could not agree with them.
yes, we all know that Japanese militarists always have a phantasy of ruling the whold world. and what they did in the world war II really brought a lot of damage to asian people. we should be care of their careerism.
but after the world war II, most of the Japanese people want to develope the econmic first, those miltarists have been searching a reasonable excuse to develope Japan's army for a long time. if we now attack them, or do something reasonless else, those miltarists will be very happy to get what they want.
Japan 's miltary power is stonger than China now, but our economic developing speed is mush more faster than Japan, so what we should do now is to try our best to make China stronger and stronger, and do not give those miltarists any pretense. |

I believe that the rise of Japanese modernization and militarism was the result of contact with the European and American powers. They saw their own backwardness and decided on self - strengthening.
You say Japan dreams of ruling the whole world. Does the CCP not have similar aspirations? Did the Soviets not have such a dream? How about Germany? or United States? The point is we are dealing with people, people will do what we can to strengthen themselves regardless of culture or nationalities.
About the strength of Japan's military compared to China's I'm not sure about your statement, I'll have to research that. |

"He who is unjust is doomed to destruction" --
 In the end we are all doomed to a similar fate. But yes I do agree, there are degrees of brutality and cruelty.
Doudou, I'm surprised the moderators haven't started deleting some of your threads  you've posted so many on the subject of Japan... |

as we all know, japan has a really small military pressence. they rely on our defences, 7th naval fleet. the question is should we defend them in a war?
right now even our aircraft carriers and supercarriers will strike fear into the pla.
btw im new! |

maybe that's what he meant....Japanese Military=American Military, we are really, really, really close allies. Any Chinese aggression towards Japan could likely result in an all out war between the US and the CCP...although since Japan is an island and the US is an Ocean away I'm afraid it won't be much of a war, cause you see we have lots of these:
chinese....not so much :-| |

You are really missing the point.... Japan is not a worry. It is a country built on a warrior culture, but this doesn't mean it is still militaristic. Japan is now a nation of peace, it thrives on it, as do all democracies. China on the other hand.... The People's Republic of China is an emerging super-power. It has more people than anywhere else in the world, and an enormous military. Also China is very expansionistic, and very oppressive of it's people. Clearly China is the bigger threat, regardless of how Japan once was.

Oh, and buddy, conservative estimates of China's military place it's size at 1-2 million soldiers. good luck winning a war of that scale! A bunch of expensive toys are no match for overwhelming size. I doubt the west could win a war with China. |

A. what are they gonna do you get at our ships? the back-stroke
B. they can't even afford to give a large number of their troops boots, infact most of them don't wear boots(I lived in China's largest army town for a year), many of the recruits wore sandals....that's not a scary military machine
C. Most of their stuff is crap(or so the Chinese officers I used to get drunk with told me), they only have limited numbers of modern weapons and even their most advanced stuff is a full generation behind ours.
and last but not least.....D. China's navy s*cks! |

A: Missiles
B: I doubt very much that their troops would wear sandals in war-time, once the massive chinese war industry boots up, I'd laugh a little less loudly
C: An AK-47 may be a generation behind, but that doesn't mean you can't kill many people with it
D: True, but what happens when they annex India, or Europe? Boats can be stolen, and if not, who cares? they'd control 60%+ of the world's land mass, and an insane amount of industry. They can build as many as they like once they own Europe and Asia |

Who's going to stop them from annexing India? certainly not the Indians... They just don't have the same military size (although they have comparable population size) Also, once they bust out of those himalaias, they could easily blitz right through the middle east, but why take that route when Russia is relatively undefended along the Chinese border? and once they're through Russia, look out Romania, China's looking at you! from there they could go whereever the hell they want, they're through europe's door and into it's living room once they bust into Romania. |

really, last time I checked China had a considerable Nuclear arsenal itself, and is more than capable of fighting a large scale nuclear war. Also, there are many russians who feel that they were better off under communist rule, so there might not be as large a resistance in russia as other countries. China will, don't quote me on this one, as I'm not exactly sure of the figure, have a larger economy than the states in less than ten years and is going to be the next super-power. I'm not saying they will conquer the world, but it is well within the realm of possibilities. So brush up on your Mandarin.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a tinfoil hat to polish |
