I wonder if NASA's funding will go up again. Perhaps more fantastic voyages will enrapture the collective American mind into some unity again. A sense of unity wouldn't hurt.

Don't think so. I think the Columbia accident is too fresh in the memory of the American mind. What I do think would spurn American enthusiasim on space exploration is some radical discovery/project by another country, especially a not-so Westernized country such as China; China did recently put one of its men in space.

Plus, America is too busy dealing with problems on Earth right now. I don't see NASA's funding increasing anytime soon, especially before the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and North Korea are resolved.

There probably won't be a conflict in North Korea, because they have nuclear warheads, and the US Military would not risk a nuclear attack (If they are smart) Iran you're probably right about, they've been hinting at it for awhile now, what with all those remarks about the Axis of Evil.

And they are still looking for him I hear...

jokes aside!
you often hear about different planets or stars being found deep in space. But to find something in our solar system and for it to be something as "school-book-changing" as this certainly deserves some attention!

I think it's a shame that real news like this has been substituted by who Britney Spears has been sleeping with!!

Eh, to be honest I really don't care about exploring the galaxy..... Most people follow in hopes to find little green men or the cure for cancer..... I think all that is a load of bull...... A big waste of American tax dollars. If NASA wants to do this, it should do it on its own budget. My idea of what NASA should do is put benifical satillites up around the earth for communication purposes. Kind of ironic that i say this being that i live by the space capital of the world (or pretty darn close to it.) But I'm quite content with good o'l planet Earth......

In recent news, the 10th planet has recently been dubbed Rupert. Everyone can proceed to grab your towels.

Is that from Douglas Adams? I'm glad to see that science fiction is still being written, and more importantly, read. Inspiration for space travel has to come from somewhere.

If not Rupert I think Cerberus would be a cool name.
