You know what'd be funny? If the pope did try to call a crusade. Then he'd be all sad when no one showed up.

Extremist/Racist Posts
To maintain the status quo of the board there are rules that must be observed so that forum members do not abuse each other in their passion for their issue or ideology. One of these rules regards Extremist Rhetoric. Blanket statements condemning an entire demographic will not be tolerated. Threads posted for such reasons will be locked. A blantant post directed at a selected group for faults they cannot help, (I.E. Religious beliefs, Physical, Mental, Color, etc...) will probably result in being banned from the site.

now as for your posts, lets see;

Quote: They are led by a regressive, ultra-conservative religious fundamentalist.

now they are led by an individual who wishes to uphold the traditional doctrine of the church

Quote: They have plenty of money.

as do most churches, not to mention that the Cathollic church is in huge amounts of debt

Quote: They have legions of fanatical followers.

as do most churches, you would think an set of beliefs that impact your entire life would be pretty importatn to some people wouldn't you

Quote: They have strict rules enforcing the place of women in the Church and society.

well again if this is an established doctrine it wouldn't make sense for a sacred institution (which is supposed to transcend the profane world) to change due to changes in the profane world.

Quote: They have a 200 year old program of expansion and evangelism, want the whole world to join them and historically have no qualms at all about splashing a lot of heathen blood around to get there.

you would think that they would want to expand wouldn't you, after all if your belief is that salvation occurs through the accepting of jesus then you would probably want to help people along the path of salvation, also the blood shed you talk about is the product of actions taken by states acting in the name of god not the actual church itself.

Quote: Surely their next step is to weaponize.
well first off the Vatican is only an observer seat at the UN so they couldn't sign the Non proliferation treaty
second this is probably the most radical statement I have ever seen, lets think about this. You are saying because the church is led by a conservative individual and has a strict doctrine that they will develop wepons of mass destruction???????

Idiot.... It was clearly a satire, by describing the Vatican this way, he implied it was like Iran.... My GOD! some people are just so dense (I'm a Catholic, by the way)

To what? he didn't say "The pope eats children" all he did was state some facts in a way that had a negative connotation, and I'm plenty empathetic.

I think that it's best not to say that the Insanity and fanaticism of Chris29 is fact... He pulled the whole "Rulechecker" on this guy's satire, now he could come after you!

*sigh of exasperation*

Reading this thread was the biggest waste of time I've had in a bit :) you guys are really being... mature and all.

On a serious note, although the Vatican has no way to actually build nukes, they could very easily get them from someone else - Soviet leftovers, or something... hey, the US weaponized Israel, why not the Vatican... but anyways... it'd be kind of funny if the Pope had a nuke. Who would they nuke, though?

They might nuke Mecca. I heard a friend the other day theorizing that if someone nuked Mecca it would end Islam because it's a requirement to make a pilgrimage there. But I figure they'd just change the rules.

Faults, eh?

That aside, I'd have to say that religious beliefs CAN be helped.

They could easily get them from Soviet Leftovers? That's not so easy anymore. If it were so simple, why would Iran or North Korea for that matter go through the grueling process of creating a Nuclear Weapon rather than just getting "Soviet Leftovers" but anyway . . .

Good question, albeit a sinister one. My guess is as good as yours but I'd say, if anything, the Vatican would nuke Mecca for it's cultural significance to Islam or even Jerusalem as a gift to Mel Gibson.

It's true that all Muslims must make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their life time. However, if God Forbid, Mecca was nuked then I'm sure the leaders of the Islamic church would surely change it somehow. Hopefully we will never have to find out how.
