As many of you who read the international headlines know, China has passed a new law concerning the new tension across the strait. Just wondering about what opinions for the people who visit here... if you haven't heard about it... you can listen to it on the NPR link here:

| Taiwan is an independant democracy and the people deserve to stay that way, they also deserve legal independance and reconognition around the world. For China to threaten force on Taiwan is direct provacation towards the United States--not a good idea. |

rousseau, dont listen to just one side. much as been written here already on why the new act is the best guarantee for peace in the region. w/o this act Taiwan can go too far. now, peace will return.
if china wanted to be the aggressor the new act will be called Reunification Act. ha ha. |

yes, in Western eyes China did wrong.
but in my eyes and in reality what China did with the anti secession act is wise and necessary to ensure peace.
Reunification is not high on the list of urgent priorities but stopping the secession movement is and this Act will stop all talk of secession until Taiwan is ready to rejoin China.
China has patience, lots of it. Taiwan will rejoin China one day. |

soon you will see two camps emerging in Taiwan.
the pro reunification led by the industrialists and KMT decendants. and on the other side the dreamy eyed pro independence consisting of natives, young English educated Chinese and naturalised Japanese like Chen.......Japan occupied Taiwan for 50 years prior to 1945.
eventually the industrialists will win. They have yet to unite and join politics but are starting to . |
