desaview wrote: USA is an empire. Not a territorial empire but still a hegemonistic empire based on a vast inter connected network of military bases, business interests, media and bankers out to make everyone subject themselvs to American interests. The unipolar world....But this model is now being defeated...and in the vanguard fighting the american hegemony are the patriotic Iraqis.  That is a rather succinct way of describing U.S. hegemony. Thanks for putting into words what some of us, like myself, have a hard time understanding what the United States really is. Although, I'm going have to step away from the last part of your post. :shifty:

in your life time we'll see Regional powers and a multi polar world. china and india may both be poles. although china has alot more resources as well as just room. india's population is going to pass china's and is still growing fast so they are going to be hit hardest by the whole aging population.

america still has quite a bit of life left, declining or not we'll still be here

japan could militerize very quickly and have nukes in months. also lead in a few technology area's.

i don't know about russia. they could i guess but it will be down the raod. they got the resources and the nukes but they lost the respect and prestige in eastern europe and to their south the muslims don't seem to want to rejoin them. europe seems to be eating up quite quickly any area that russia could have expanded into. (eastern europe)

and i admit that anything could happen so this is all just for fun but.

U.S.A. , europe (united), china, india,

things to look out for a japan (maybe), russia (maybe)

unlikely - a african power, something i would like to see is a good strong centralizing power in south america but don't think it will happen.

i don't know the exact meaning of empire. i think emporor means king of king so if you are the a kings king does that make your land an empire.

if so, Hawai`i entered the decade of the 1890s as a kingdom and emerged from it as a Territory of the United States, with a provisional government and a republic in between. It was a time of monarchs and "mission boys," of royalists, republicans and revolutionaries.
