Who do you think is the next Empire to come?

I'd say it's India.
India mightn't be the best place to live in, but they definitely start to gain power.
Good that they're peacefull country ( not including Pakistan ).
Let's hope they'll win.

I honestly doubt that it will be India. They have over 40 million people living in poverty, still adhere to traditional caste...and most folks still dig a hole in the backyard to share a community bath. err...that's if they take one.

Surely the technological infrustructure, and human resource they have available in the three cities devoted to such pursuits...are incredibly impressive. However, most of those workers are bused in by their companies...further, the economic disparity between masses and classes is something that will take hundreds of years vs. decades to overcome.

The next empire to come will be the "world empire."

The US won't have sovereignty or a say in anything anymore.

Our interests, and our say, will be 2nd to what the world wants, and what the world says.

The great "next empire" won't be India. It will be the rest of the world, united together, in hatred and disgust for the US. The One World Empire.

Won't be any empires after the US. World will self-destruct long before that happens. You can take it to the bank long before China or Europe catches up to America some nutcase will get his hands on a bomb and set it off in Israel. Israel will then blow up the entire middle east setting off the rest of the world.

If anything Monkeys will evolve to replace us and rebuild the world in their image.

We, the Falconist Party envision the entire world united under the government of the U.S. Constitution, the flag of the stars and stripes, the tounge of the English language, the prosperity of guided capitalism, the currency of the U.S. Dollar, and under the name of the United States of Terra.

Yup - - hell China practically owns our economy already!!!
If duuuhbya gets his way they'll own a lot more of it too!!!!

Aside from their propping up our dollar and buying up the bush deficit, China's economy is becoming dominant - and quickly.

Gran Columbia, which consists of Columbia, Venezuela, Ecuador and El Salvador, will reform their federation. Ten years later, the world will be stuffed to the gills with tacos and salsa.

or maybe ther'll be a war so massive that 2/3 of the population is killed, and the rest go back to living in caves and straw huts.

Or maybe the mother ship will come back to take me away from this mad planet.

The world will NEVER unite.
There will always be another conflicts.
There were tries to unite between nations, and it didn't work.
EX:
Austro - Hungarian Empire.
Chezchoslovakia.
USSR.

Well, India will become a world power because she does have a growing population and many industries are being outsourced to India. Also, that 40 million people in poverty will give India more incentive to seek "living space" in places like Australia.

China is a nation to watch out for. The Chinese GDP is growing at 9% annually and China is modernizing its military. However, we have yet to see the effects of its one-child per family program. This program may cause a demographic disaster for China.

Brazil has been overlooked as a potential world power. I think Brazil can become another major player in the world.

The European Union is another power to watch out for if they pull off uniting the nations of Europe into a political union. They will boast the world's largest GDP, the world's largest military, and a population of 600 million. However, Europe is suffering from economic stagnation, a aging and diminishing population, and a reluctance to flex its military might.

Islamism could have been a world power had the Islamists kept their operations on the downlow. However, now that America has delcared war on Islamists, it will be difficult for the Islamists to take control of nations and unify them into a Global Islamic Caliphate.

The Arab nations never seem to have been able to unite in the past. The only way I see this happening is if Pan-Arabists were able to depose the regimes of their respective nations and agree to unite them into a new political and economic entity. I don't see it happening.

China is indeed a growing power.
It's a matter of time until India will clash with China.
China is growing steadly.

Ha, you have sections of the USA in almost open rebellion against Washington and it's laws now. How exactly would you expand that to the world when the problems in your own backyard threaten the continued existance of America as we now know it?

It's only a matter of time before Bubba and his drinking buddy Zeke of ****, Idaho actively consider picking up their shotguns and going to war against the federal government, but the feeling usually goes away when they sober up in the morning.....

We would clean up America's backyard first and rebuild America as well as her current positions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Haiti before we take on liberating and rebuilding the rest of the world. Also, the new laws and programs we would implement may diminish the feelings people here have at home against the USA.

Why do you assume the rest of the world wants to be part of the US?

watch out, world

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/GC31Df05.html

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/GD01Df03.html

the most significant event of the century affecting half the world population is happening right here.

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/GC31Df06.html

Riding on a 79% growth in bilateral trade in 2004 at US$14 billion, China has expressed an interest in formulating a free-trade agreement (FTA) with India, saying that closer trade relations could make it easier to solve political differences. If the FTA is achieved, it would result in the biggest free-trade region in the world.

Asean plus China are already scheduled to be Free Trade Area by 2010. If this is implemented where will it leave Japan.....???? feeding on crumps that US will feed it from time to time????? Japan has cause to be alarmed .

There's a helluva lot more than 40 million people living in poverty in India..try like over 1 billion.

Anyway, I can't forsee anymore imperialism in the future of the world...alliances and buildup of power in nations, yes, but imperialism and colonialism are mostly things of the past (though someone should really tell that to China).

The superpowers in 2050 will most likely be America, China, India, and the EU. Russia and Japan will diminish in importance, but still be the next most powerful. As for any other growing powers...hmmm Indonesia maybe, they have over 250 million people don't they. And Brazil & Mexico are growing fast too.
